Living Words

Genuine poets are wordsmiths.
Every single word they employ
Is syntactically correct
In the construction of their work.
Superfluousness is taboo.
They remain steadfastly focused
On the essence of poetry
Which is its elemental soul.
When you read their fine poesy
Each line, each stanza comes alive
Where heretofore were lifeless words
Occupying reference books.
Only the masterful poet
Can breathe life into each dead word.
