Help from parents/teachers/aunts/etc. of 6-8 year olds

Hi guys :)

I just have a simple question...Do kids aged 6-8 know who Bill Gates is? If you have a child that age or better yet, if you teach a room of them, will you ask them and let me know?

A nice gentleman in my writer's group is writing his first children's book and he never had kids so he admittedly doesn't know much about kids. He used an analogy about Warren Buffet in his book and he admitted kids would not know who he is (I agree!)...but I told him that all kids know Warren’s BFF, Bill Gates. Everyone disputed this and said that kids that age do not know who he is...and that only kids 10 years old and older would know the Microsoft icon.

So, will you guys settle this for me? Who is right?

Natalie, I don't have children, but I do know some adults who haven't heard of either Buffet or Gates. How they manage to stay clueless mystifies me. Happy Thanksgiving! Love, Carolyn

Thanks Andrea-If you get a chance to ask him...please do so. I bet if we asked the kids who Lil Wayne, TI and Yo Gotti were, they'd know :) If anyone else can help...I have until Monday to find out so please feel free to respond :)

I have a nine year old grandson. the other day we asked him, "who is the teacher's pet at your school? is it you?" Our grandson answered by giving the name of a hamster in his classroom. Judging from THAT response, I seriously doubt he knows who Bill Gates is OR buffet either. But maybe there are other kids out there who care about those things!! hmmmm.
