Greetings, from the Great State of Georgia, home of Georgia Peaches and Georgia Pines.

I was born on 17 March 1943 in Dublin, Georgia.  I graduated from East Laurens High School and joined the Air Force in 1963.  I spent 20 years working in the Chaplain Career Field in an administrative capacity.  I retired in 1983 and returned to my roots in 1986.  I worked for 23 years at the VA Medical Center as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Pharmacy and retired on 1 April 2009.  I have two children.  My daughter, Rachel and her husband, Dwayne have no children.  My son Jon and his wife, Carra, have six children.   My wife and I are enjoying retirement and hope to grow old (very old) together.  I enjoy yard work and try to stay busy.  With a three acre plot in the country, staying busy is easy.

I teach a class each Wednesday morning at one of the local addictive behavior centers and on Monday evening at the local Celebrate Recovery chapter.  I co-founded the CR group and have been with it for 10 years.  We began with only 14 and now have an average attendance of 130.

My only real hobby is writing and being a member of Poetry Soup.  I published my first book entitled American Splendor,  in 2016.  I am in the process of writing book number two entitled Why Me, Lord?  I hope to have it in the local Christian Bookstore by mid-Summer.

When a dear and trusted loyal friend encourages you to post a blog to let others that you have a book on the market, you follow their suggestion.  I have published a book entitled American Splendor.  It is available on Luluwordpress.com  I have a second book in the preparation stage entitled Why Me, Lord?  It will be out hopefully in late Spring or early Summer from the same publisher.

This suggestion comes at a time when some of you may wish to purchase a copy of American Splendor as a Christmas gift to some of your friends on Soup.

Thank you, Andrea! The title was based on a poem I wrote for an Air Force Retiree's Reunion of Chaplains and Chapel Managers. Then, a retired Army Chaplain enlisted my services in writing a poem for his 4th of July sermon. He used that poem and suggested I write a book with that title. God at work!!! Now, book number two is underway, entitled, Why Me,Lord?

Congratulations, my friend, I pray all your endeavors are prosperous and blessed! May I ask, did you use CreateSpace or something similar? I am contemplating submitting a portfolio, and perhaps self-publishing a different collection. Thanks for any info, and congrats again - much to be proud of, my friend! :-)

Thanks for the congrats, Greg, and for the prayers for prosperity and blessing. I will have to ask my daughter about the CreateSpace query. She, and her husband who is a graphics design artist by trade, designed the cover and did the layout for me. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks again for all that you do, but most of all for being my friend. Friends are important!

Many congratulations on your publication Curtis, making a blog is a great way to let people know about your book. For ease of purchase why not add a link to the book. It is an ideal time to publicise your book with Christmas fast approaching:-) Hugs Jan xx
