Maybe you could have approached this in a nice manner.... A nice invitation.. That says... ""Hey go check out the forums."" I bet you more than a handful would had followed you there... :-)

Mr. Mr. I find this blog rather annoying. The same way you find many of the top poets ANNOYING. Talking about ---Selfish--- *poet wise* IS he/she who only considers oneself. And I've seen your actions on the soup. ((HOW CAN YOU SAY-- ""I care about making and keeping The Soup the wonderful haven and sanctuary that it is"" BUT, YET YOU COME TO US WITH FORCE CALLING US SELFISH,)) I'd call that being a Hypocrite.... But, HEY! Who am I to think in such a way. I come here cuz I want. Like you we all have STANDARDS to what and who we like. I'm not the one who thinks I'm mightier than others. Well I am sour now and stay away from many of the poets who think their SH!T don't stink... LOL...

by the way, the BLOGS are the forum of this place. I love it here and come here almost daily. This is where people come to tell their news, to rant, to ask questions, to give humor, to teach forms, etc etc. I would like to ask those few souls at the forums: why are YOU guys not here??

I don't think it's a case of people being 'selfish' - many people lead very busy lives and also prioritise their families...people do as much or as little here as they see fit and their time allows; there shouldn't be any pressure on anybody, it should be an enjoyable activity and not a duty or obligation...

Dear friend .If you feel going to the forum is what you should be doing Do it and its good to suggest it..but no need to call people who doesnt visit selfish. There are some of us who prefer forums..others soup mail..others chat..others contests..others just commenting. Some prefer to do more than one option..others three..but thats an opinion.Believe me many of us definitely answer soupmails to help.Maybe you found the wrong person. Many even create blogs which get us to know each other..and to learn from one another. With some i even shared greetings through personal addresses & what better feedback than to read each others poetry ? I tried checking whats in the forum

I can understand where you are coming from. I felt the same as you at the other forums I used to visit until I realized that I was putting all myself into something that hardly another soul was really caring about. On the other hand, I got great satisfaction in reading great poems and getting to know people more intimately thru emails after meeting them at Soup. this is my way. Everyone learns what way works for them. Also I work daily and do lesson plans for my classes, I am a big fan of movies, books, poetry, writing, working out, and coming here a few hours a day. I have grandkids and a husband. Sorry, forums NO CAN DO

well, new friend, I just went over there and read a few things, and GOOD GRIEF, That is NOT for me. Also, I have to tell you, the experiences I have had with forums in the past have been so horrible that I will never do them again. For years I was at other places where I was the diligent participant in stuff that I eventually realized was INANE because I was having to deal with people who did not have anything in common with me, while the people whose poetry I truly wanted to read were not even the people using those forums. I am not saying that bad poets are at Soup's forums, but come on, there are not enough hours in the day for some of us to be wasting time where we don't want to be.

Some people have questions about how the site works and they ask in the forums and yet they go unanswered. I asked for help regarding the premium features like adding a pic to my poem, and I got no help whatsoever. I even asked some of you personally via Soupmail for help to no avail; thanks for that. And what about the poets who want a high or gentle critique for a poem? Should their requests go unnoticed because of everyone's "pressing priorities"? The justifications I'm reading don't fly in my book and you can all be mad at me for saying so and treat me like a leper; I fully expect it, since I have so obviously disrupted your delicate sensibilities. How dare I, right? Be offended, I guess

Operation "Poetic Pariah" is in full swing, I see. I'm also reading a lot of excuses and justifications which I find, honestly, unmoving. I do the same things you all do: write SoupMails, review poems, post and make comments, yet I still make time for the forums. Yeah, I know: who's this newbie coming in here mouthing off? Pfffft! Well, I have my opinions, I speak them and stand by them; I shan't recant my stance. Whether it's disinterest, disregard, selfishness or laziness, that's no reason for the forums to be neglected. I asked for people to participate once a week, and evidently that's asking too much and I'm wayyyy outta line. Sorry people: I'm right, and no justifications make me wrong

Amen to what Charmaine has said....we all have our own priorities....some of us would rather spend our time where it means the most to us......not because someone thinks we should. If our time is limited to writing, and making comments, making a connection with someone, or making a friend...making someone feel better, or think about something, or feel something, then I'm lucky, and the time spent has been worthwhile. It does not mean I've been selfish. I would hope the same goes for others.

I think most of what the forums have to offer can be done in comments or by soup mailing a friend. I also agree with Skat, the top soupers in here do a great job, they are the glue that holds this place together. Time is the problem for most people and as Charmy says; priorities.

Dear friend..I ve been here for five years..I struggle to make time and be here..but I am here cause I love being here.I try to welcome newbies by reading their poems.I do not have time to be in forums..but that doesn t make me selfish.I know my time and my priorities. Its good to get our attention re forums but it doesnt mean that people who doesn t visit forums are selfiish or do not care.Everyone has his work..his family..his friends and our other famil y for many is here..yet everyone knows his and her own priorities.Have a nice day and btw I read a poem of yours today and its very good -Charma

I'm only here for the cookies and poems... no push or shove gonna have me waste time on them who do not want it [forums]. I think many of the leaders here are good at what they do. . Greeting and meeting the poets... now let's give cheers 2 the top 10 poets who keep them comments flowing. And have time in making poets feel welcome. now it's up to the community to make things work. Good Luck Sir.....have a nice day...SKAT
