Okay, one more thing and I'll shut the heck up...On the subject of arrogance vs. humility (which I need a lot more of) here is a quote from my dad's lifelong friend at his funeral: "He was the most humble man I ever knew, but he didn't KNOW he was humble, because if he had known he was humble, then he would not have been humble anymore" Yes indeed...

Hmmm...Georgio mentioned below that he is encouraging 'true poets' to compose in partial-language...Hey Mr. V, how bout partial-english? My native language by the way...I guess I need poetry lessons like Catie (I assume you will be the instructor?) Come on back Craig...You gonna leave me as the lone political conservative on the Soup?

I would like to see this kind of challenge; but no one leave the site! For heaven's sake. Just write! No one is better than anyone else here. Chris D would be the perfect judge.

It would be a great loss for me too..not for the site only..For any of you to leave..If you two join forces with maybe some others who have great knowledge re certain forms..Maybe we can have a group of tutors instead of moderators..How about a hug for friends?' ) : )

Craig, I was going to soupmail you, but I will just post a message here. Please, Craig, just let this drop. A person's work SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. Everyone on this site can chose to do what they want with their contests. If we are unhappy, we just don't join...that's all. We can't MAKE them change the way they do things. I have basically stopped joining contests. It's just too competitive and nerve wracking. There are some I might join in the future, but I will NOT set myself up for failure. It is inevitable that some poetry will speak to us more than others. I admire your work. It always speaks to me. No good will come of this. It never has, it never will. Nothing will change. Just let it be XO

Oooo! A high stakes challenge. This is exciting, a way to keep it real. Enough talk, bring on the action. But who would be the panel of judges? How can the judging be neutral on a site that is rife with favoritism? Just for an example, a knowledgeable, world-class judge, automatically looks beyond meter, beyond forced-rhyme, and searches for cohesive word-choice, for layered substance, for a merging of subjective and concrete imagery, etc, etc.
