Staff Vacation
Soupers, the PoetrySoup staff will be on vacation for two weeks…returning May 7. We will check emails once daily so do not panic if we do not reply to your emails promptly.
Email Notification Changes
We are changing the way notification emails are sent and their frequency. Why? Because PoetrySoup is sending too many emails. One of the reasons some of you are having our emails go into your SPAM folder is because of the volume of emails sent by PoetrySoup's servers. We must decrease that volume. PoetrySoup’s growth has been great. We are now the 5th largest poetry website in the world and 4th largest poetry website in the United States (Alexa Rank 1 - Alexa Rank 2). So, we have few new controls that we are adding to our emailing policy. Most of the changes will be implemented when we come back from vacation in a couple week. The upcoming changes are as follows:
Poem Comment Notifications
If you have this feature turned on, you will only receive an email notification on a comment if you have not received an email from us within the past 2 hours. You will need to view your inbox for missed comments.
Blog Comment Notifications
If you have this feature turned on, you will only receive an email notification on a comment if you have not received an email from us within the past 2 hours. You will need to view your inbox for missed comments.
Blog Reply and Comment Reply Notifications
You will no longer receive notification emails on replies to your comments. Sorry.
Follower Notifications
You will only receive an email notification of a new follower if you have not received an email from us in the past 4 hours.
These changes are needed and unavoidable. Sorry. We may tweak the timiing of these notifications as we see the impact on our servers. Thanks.
