down vast beauty light

sparking light of silver grace
now lay peaceful strokes
on hillside of new day

Each thought still remain
in splashed hues of poetic verse
a quenching bath of love
upon soft sky of birth

then surely I say with possibilities.......



It would be nice to have an urgent quick message area for ~

 Contest Updates-problems/Poet Messages/Just a quick note that needs to be said...thus not wasting blog space, etc..


What do you think dreaming poets..???

I find it hard to believe when sponsoring a contest

that DIRECTIONS are NOT followed


In my latest contest I request 5-8 line poetry

I find I have (5) poems with 10-15 lines


I don't understand


....and one more thing...Please enter my new contest!!!!

That sure can be a useful feature, Rick :) I also asked TPS before whether PM's can have an extra tab from their blogs for "My Contests"-- so it can be another access--it got shot down :(... and yes, I guess some people just don't read? Or are just interested in joining as many contests as possible, but don't bother reading the rules? I also get a bunch of way out there entries in my contests...I'll definitely check out your contest :D

I usually have 5 give or take that do not follow the rules, the more rules the more that don't follow them. this contest entitled English Quintain contest has a ballad, a narrative, a free verse , etc. I have gotten used to it, I refuse to read them if they are the wrong form, wrong length etc. I think it is insulting to enter a contest you have not bothered to even read, please do not look at the title and guess what the sponsor wants. of course the title should have been a clue in my current contest you'd think. Anyway enough venting I am off to judge the 30 entries that can read.

Yes Andrea, Cyndi and kenny, it does get a bit frustrating / I guess it is what it is..../I have got to a point where I take my poetry and contests very seriously. (I'm not perfect, but I try to follow directions!!!!!)"The respect thing"~ Thanks for taking time to comment!!!and Kenny write and post with Google Chrome//a spell check built in...!(never sticks or jams up)God bless you guys!!`Love and light ~^Rick

That thing with directions is just par for the course, Rick! And I think your urgent message thing is a good idea, but maybe Soup does not want to be hurried!

Rick,I have only entered one Contest and lucky for me Francine soup mailed me about using Spellcheck. I know Chef stopped doing contest because he got so frustrated when 25 out of 71 etrees did not follow rules. There could have been 25 Poems that would have followed the Rules.Chef is HG, I try tocall him HG,or Harry,or Liege. He says it would be nice if the Sponsor could delete an entree that does not follow Rules, therefore you would have 71 out of 71 Poems that you can Judge. Great Blog Subject A Fledgling Poet kenny

Well, I like the 'idea' of a quick message/problem board, but I doubt it would be used properly if people can't even follow directions for a contest, right? LOL. It would just be used the same way and would lose its original intent. As far as the contest updates, our contest page has an area for that, and I figure if anyone is interested, they can read it there. And the not following directions thing? Well, depends on the contest and the complexity. For example, one of Nette's contests had a lovely picture of a girl, we were supposed to write about her. And I clicked on it to read, got called away, and periodically throughout my 'mommy' day thought of that girl. As soon as my monkey was put to bed that night, I wrote. I wrote and wrote and... wrote. Posted and was about to enter it into the contest, and low and behold, after DOUBLE CHECKING, discovered it had a line restriction, though free verse was allowed... others may have done this. Remembered ONE THING, not all, life interrupts

Try this you tell a poet what to do to rise in the ranks in a contest and they get mad at YOU! LOL and of course don't do it, AND get mad at you that they didn't place high enough?
