On the one ton temple bell
a moon-moth,
folded into sleep.  .   . Yosa Buson.

“I was travelling by train from New York to Meher Baba’s Home in The West, Myrtle Beach, when I had to pass through Grand Central Station. Overwhelmed with the cacophony of noise from fellow travellers coming and going the din was deafening to the ears. Sunlight was streaming through the windows high in the roof space as shafts of light and bathed in one of these sunlit rays I happened to notice seated on a green bench the diminutive figure of an oriental woman, she was sitting perfectly still, her eyes closed, her tiny hands folded on her lap, her knees together, she was wearing exceptionally colourful clothes and tortoiseshell beaded combs in her hair, frozen to the spot I stopped in my tracks amidst the milling bustling throng because she reminded me of a beautiful butterfly asleep upon a leaf.”

“a lone butterfly
asleep upon a green leaf,
stillness in movement.”

An amazing write... Facinating, actually... A variation of someone stopping to smell the roses... In this world perpetual motion is every where around us... To see a peaceful quiet moment in the middle of everything is so rare...

Also, reading this, somehow reminded me how I felt today-- I was cleaning my bookshelves when I looked out the window and just Stopped. The sky looked amazing through my curtains, a mix of light blue, pink and orange--I dropped everything, looked for batteries (of course, the camera had to be low in batteries) fumbled-- by the time I went out, the orange streaks had gone, only the pink were left-- made me wish that I didn't search for batteries! but still enjoyed that moment, as the pink faded off, the wind blew with the bats flitting by. Amazing simple moment for me. Sorry, me getting carried away...

This is another beautiful and meaningful read, Tom-- just like your previous blog, it makes me stop and think. I especially liked how the woman caught your eye and made you stop, of how it gave birth to this thought and haiku-- isn't it amazing how we get these reminders to see Beauty amidst the chaos and bustle of life... I hope you post more of your musings, they are very worthwhile reads,,,
