Let us make this plain. I lived on Fort Know a year and a half ago for 2 years, and I passed the Vault at least twice a day every day. It is where I finished writing my latest book GOLD VAULT OF POETRY, under the pen name of Ron Arbuthnot. I believe you can buy it here on Poetry Soup bookstore, if not it is available at Barnes and Noble and nearly any on line book store.
The sight of the massive stone vault we refer to as FORT KNOX, is very impressive. But I tell you now, the only gold on Fort Knox is sold at the US Army PX, or the ear rings, or wedding rings, or gold teeth on Fort Knox. There is no gold on Fort Knox. Why is this? Because the United States Gold Bullion Depository is not on Fort Knox, it is US government property adjacent to the Army Post of Fort Knox. It is NOT part of the US Army and never has been. But our gold is still there, well protected and very save, it is just not on, nor has it ever been on, Fort Knox.
I do not know why they call it Fort Knox, and I asked lots of people, including a couple of Generals, and no one had an answer to that question.
To make it more confusing, you will rarely see any US Army vehicles entering or leaving the Gold Bouillon property. None say United States Government, and none are labeled US Depository, which it is. They all say US NINT, but this is not a mint, either. LOL It is a depository, mainly for storing most of our gold, though some is stored other places, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Denver, and a huge depository is directly under and protected by the rubble of the World Trade Center in NYC, because they believe it is safer there than just about anywhere.
Gold is not the only thing at our US Gold Bouillon Depository. It is also the home of the original US Constitution, and look at this, the Hope Diamond many times, three volumes of the original Gutenberg Bible, Abraham Lincoln's second inaugural address, the original Articles of Confederation, and the last I knew, it is also the safe keeping place for England's original Magna Charta.
But if you go around claiming there is no gold on Fort Knox, guess what, you are right. Sort of. The gold is all in the next door neighbor to Fort Knox, the US Gold Bouillon Depository
And it is still safe.
