The Truth of You

Do you ever just look in the mirror
and not like what you see
you get hopeless because you don’t think you are worthy enough
because you compare yourself to other people
that’s me everyday

You see people in magazines and movie screens
and you realize you will never look like that
and how beautiful they are
but are they really beautiful
you can’t judge someone by their looks
judge them by their actions

Are you kind?
Because that’s all that matters
society makes us think low of ourselves
they make us think that if you get surgery and cake your face with makeup
you will be the ideal person
but stop thinking about what others think
because it’s not the cover of the book that matters
It’s when you open the book and turn the pages.

I really enjoy the idea behind this piece. The title caught my attention right away; not sure why, but it sounded sweet. To make this stronger, I'd suggest using a stronger vocabulary and make it not sound as if you're talking as much. It'll flow better that way. Love it though! :)
