Rainbow People
Rainbows Resemble Us
People of the earth, we are a rainbow.
The colors, we resemble
We start within the earth
And climb high into the sky
Reaching toward the clouds of heaven
Our colors intermingle,
Into blurred hues, We coexist,
Complementing each other at every angle
Created by a prism with refraction the key
We are so similar yet we are all not free
But as we descend, back down to our humble beginnings
We see the pot of gold, where we will all melt together
Our differences no longer substantial,
But were they really ever,
Our opinions to be heard, not lain on deaf ears,
Our skin the same color, with our eyes tightly shut,
The colors we began with no longer matter
The truth we have yet to see,
For we all have the same fate
To become the treasure of this world
Its people, come together as one
The rainbow now lacks the tyranny, treachery and shame
We have embraced since our creation
Our legacy we have maimed
The gifts we have for one another
Are hidden in a mental illness
Soon to be deciphered, so as all to see
The beauty in this rainbow
Every color, hue and shade,
My wish would be for all to see
As a child first looks with magic in their eye
At the gift that we receive
When a rainbow blesses our sky
