momma

momma, i’m sorry.
i didn’t think you’d be the one to find me.
momma, i’m sorry.
i thought the earth would have more time with my body.

momma, don’t cry.
i was living off of borrowed time.
momma, close your eyes,
see me dancing up in the sky

momma, it’s ok.
i’m happy now, no more pain.
momma, don’t go,
you gotta lay rest to my bones.

let flowers grow from my skin,
let the bugs feast on the organs within.
let my hair sprawl into the grass
i’m at peace at last.

so, momma, i’m sorry
but you gotta go on without me.
tell the family i love them all.
they need you now, you gotta stay strong.
