Tears For Fears

Like a speck of sand that smarts your eyes
Like a pearl, a teardrop curled up in a shell
The pain and fear welling up inside
Coming in waves, crashing onto the shore
Spilling over from the edge
Tears now touching new boundaries
Memories now buried like tiny shells
in the sand.

The burden of each precious drop
Falling till your heart is empty
Bringing their flow now to a stop
Fatigue now setting in, like a sunset
on the horizon
Words unspoken blocked, like froth
on the edge of a wave
Receding now, tears now beating a retreat
My heart now drawn in sand, sunk to the
bottom of the deep ocean.
