Writing On Snow

The sun on snow looks like glossy paper
Rolled out in endless sheets
With my skis I sketch and write in zigzag letters
Long and flowing are my verses
The wind in hot pursuit, forging my lines
Intricate patterns I draw on snow
I discern a hidden meaning in all of my musings
The cold burning my words into flowing sheets
Holding a promise for the future that seems
like a tiny tip writing effortlessly with swaying motion
In the distant horizon I see two fellow skiers
Writing stories in different languages
Drawing parallels in shades of constant flow
I follow the light shining deep in my core.

Mask We Wear

The Mask I wear is of a Comedian
Not showing the world I hurt
For when you laugh or cry looks the same
Sarcasm is rooted in pain.

The Mask I wear is of an Introvert
Being lonely than risk not being liked
I keep to myself and try not to falter
Failure is rooted in Rejection.

The Mask I wear is a Social Butterfly
My calendar is packed my life lacks depth
The gift of the gab is for me
My Personality is rooted in Insecurity.

The Mask I wear is of a Perfectionist
Everything running on my watch smoothly
Living in a constant state of something going wrong
My Obsessiveness is rooted in Anxiety.

The Mask that I wear is of a Monk
Showing my calm as if nothing is wrong
Never facing my bottled up emotions
My Composure is rooted in Chaos within me.

Pastel Sadness

I caught him staring at me
From the corner of my eyes
I turned to a cloud’s mist
His eyes had a grey pastel sadness
A white fog had drifted downwards
And covered his weather beaten face
A light vapour seemed to seep
Through his portrait, a sadness
That even Atlas could not lift
His misery seeped out and
Took hold of me, I looked away
But I had already painted myself
In his shades of grey, my eyes filled
Courtouring away my pain
Colours had no place here today!

Traitorous Heart

Wide awake in the silent dark
When I’m all curled in a corner
I hear an incessant pounding
Is this the sound of a traitorous heart?
Or footsteps pacing outside my door?
Regrets try to creep out from under
Barren tears in eyes wide open
You’ll always remember and can I ever forget?
Those uncertain hours before the light of dawn
When it would be in your gaze, I become whole!

Forest of Flame In Spring

The sun has torched you flaming red
A blooming of spring canopies spread
From a mile away I see red tree heads
Her red hot fringe teases the wind
She sways in tune marching lines ahead
And falls gently kissing this earthy bed
Street-long heavy-hung red pollen she spreads
Her fragrance follows this beauty in red

Passion awakens
With slow gentle rain kisses
Flaming red within.

Monochrome Mirages

I cherish old photos in monochrome
They seem more poignant and focused
Had they been in colour they would be lost
In dazzling cobalt skies and lapis lazuli waters

Turning my world into monochrome
I often wish I had a switch in my brain
Stopping all these colourful distractions
To focus and absorb to cherish life

Like a top spinning my inner self to dizzying motion
Readying my heart to absorb and cherish
the colours of what I see with my eyes mind and soul
Slowly seeping over and into my monochrome
mirages

A Pat On the Back

I spotted a feather by the sea
I watched as it fell from the sky in front of me
It seemed like a feather from an angels space
I saw it fall with so much grace

It was lifted with the wind and gently settled
on a human back
It travelled far and wide, as I soon lost track
Its touch was soft and an encouraging thing
A pat of a feather from an angels wing

It could have stayed longer but had a lot
of work to do
And from then on never settled on the ground
It calmed and soothed without a sound
From back to back it moved around.

Silent Blossoms

Swaying flowers
a gentle breeze
every blossoming flower

Is a silent soul
of nature.

Of Vagabond Dreams

How long will this road grow
Gliding down these asphalt ribbons
Content I drift with no urgency
My mind wandering where it will

My feet zigzag as the wind caresses my skin
I cruise safely as I watch the clouds moving thin
As I eat up pavements at a steady pace
A smile on this vagabonds meandering face

My today’s follow my yesterday’s
Each day the shadow of the last
I burn a trail without any traces
My spirit laments but seldom retraces

I deny my fickle conscience
To dictate my destiny in silent dreams
Where meandering is my only goal
The aspirations of an enigmatic soul

Just Because

Just because I chose, not to complain
That didn’t mean I felt no pain
Just because I listened, to the breeze
That didn’t mean winds blew with ease
Just because you held grudges,on your finger tips
That did mean I gave your hand the slip
Just because I liked the smell of the rain
That didn’t mean you could make me cry again
Just because I embraced courage
That didn’t mean there was no damage
Just because I smiled in the sun
That didn’t mean my needing was done
Just because I wore my heart on my sleeve
That did not mean you could get up and leave!
