Beautiful Day

Awake... my first breath in the quiet of an April dawn
becomes a halted gasp, caught and hung in mid air
A warm, silent smile deepens as eyes are drawn
toward the distant horizon where the face of the sun rising
Veiled by misty, morning dew spreads its warmth through
dense morning haze across skies perfectly inked in gold
and raspberry hues, making a promise of a beautiful day.

Soft Wind

Soft wind, warm and weightless
That brushes my cheeks in cool of day
And on warm moonlit nights of summer
Let me lay upon your expansive wings
Let me breathe deeply of your spirit
Carry me o’er God’s beautiful earth
Carry me across the turquoise seas
Where silence lies supreme as dolphins play
Listen as their bodies slice the oceans deep
As the sun seems to linger enjoying the view
Let me down for a while to walk bare feet upon warm sands
Let me frolic with gentle white crested waves, then
Carry me far beyond blue heaven’s dome
Carry me to my Fathers’ home

A Choir of Nature

“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness therein, the world and they that dwell therein” A Psalm of David…
Solitary, I stand upon these ever changing shores Where sun, sea, earth and winds abide Where time and tide flow forevermore In a timeless waltz, as one, they reside Within this glorious setting sits a conspicuous ruin A beautiful church built with mortar and stone Stones carved and laid by hands, gifted and willing And now vast blue skie replace the old wooden dome B'neath sits an altar graced by Morning Glory vines Ascending, yet, to the sun and matching blue skies While fragile walls hugged by bougainvillea climbs Well dressed in their shocking pink and white styles And though silence prevails, I hear a choir of nature sing Melodious chants echoing within these broken walls Where the elements congregate and worship in sync... Transfixed; I kneel in worship and my soul gives its all! ~*~

Fear Not the Wind

Fear not the fierce wind, o gentle heart
Though it may rattle the eaves
And give no ear to its whispers with nothing to impart
But shallow promises that hang, like dried, parched leaves

Listen to its mournful wails on the way to some distant shore
Leaving in its trail, the harsh rawness of a chill
And envy not; give pity instead; be sure to keep no scores
For the warmth of a gentle heart is by far, richer still

For who can fathom the baleful howls invading valleys below;
Billowing across the fragile earth and her boundless seas?
Is it in anguish that she protests; who can really know?
Yet, judge not, o gentle heart, but like a blade of grass amidst a storm
Lay calmly into the wind; rely not upon your strength; stay strong

My White Lace Tablecloth

I washed my white lace tablecloth and hung it out to dry
The bleach did the best it could-it was worth the try
'Though no one else can see, the stain still remains
As old as time itself
Stubborn as mildew rot

One false step, one careless word forever etched in time
Travels the universe, endlessly
In search of a place to rest
What would I not give to reverse that step
To retrieve that hateful word

Tread lightly in your daily walk, o'er hills and valleys in between
Plot well your steps and weigh your words
So you'll have nothing to regret, like the
Unkind words carved deeply upon your heart
I wash my white lace tablecloth again, again and again!

Don'T Promise Me the World

Don’t promise me the world
That’s not yours to give
Neither promise me forever
When all you have to give is today
Just give me your today
And all it encompasses
And should forever come and finds us here
Our mere presence would speak of our genuine love

This Special Time of Year

We may not have a "White Christmas", yet joy remains the same I find delight in viewing candles reflected on frosted panes They remind me to be grateful for warmth and light so near Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year A scenic view of white smoke rising from the chimney tall Dainty snow flakes falling as kids roll them into balls They sail against blustery winds and I wonder how they dare! Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year Sweet music heralding peace, urges hearts to spread some joy! Displayed is a wooden Nativity Scene to greet you at the door A glittering tree with twinkling stars stands proudly at the rear! Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year Fresh pine garlands dress stair rails with large red velvet bows The aroma of cinnamon and pine saturates, delighting one’s nose While a cozy wood fireplace glows, inviting, daydream stares Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year The baking’s almost done; and tons of sweets are ensured Though, there will not be any Christmas pudding this year, for sure Mama’s been gone home a while, yet the many memories linger here Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year Whatever may happen in life, Christmas joy lives in the heart A warm home and loving hearts have sufficed from the start Much food, drinks and good conversation; lots of fun to share! Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year “Less formal” is my style preferred, so do relax if you please Sit on the floor, take off those shoes; dance or just be a tease When you feel stuffed and need a nap, if you snore, have no fear! Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year ~*~

Spring Showers

Soft sunlight streams through Nimbus clouds A sign, a foretaste of coming spring When hills and fields bring forth rich foliage From humble green grass to royal heather Flaunting peacock colors to honor the day As clouds release their crystalline drops Lovers’ laughter echoes as they run for shelter B’neath the old willow tree, they stand; lost in warm embrace Soon, a hush will fall as sweet jasmine floats When hungry lips taste the first kiss of spring ~*~

Crystalline Wings

The trodden pathway of brown pebble stones and grass Leads to a hidden meadow below a mountain pass Where soft gentle winds flow endless from blue skies Whispering secrets to agile dragonflies That frolic in sunshine amongst daffodils Wings with touches of gold dip low just for thrills As bumble bees hum; and a bird playfully sings … Watching sun rays reflect on crystalline wings ~*~

If Walls Could Speak

Saturday Night... You’re here, in the flesh; tall and handsome, where nothing stands between us but our breaths... softly, yet eagerly exchanging warm, casual greetings Tonight, in the absence of distance, time is defunct; obsolete... And if these walls could speak, they would tell of the blazing sparks that fly when our eyes meet and how quickly I have to look away or I would melt like fresh, creamy butter in sunlight at noon! ~*~ 9/7/13 For "Mr. Incredible"
