     In life there are at times, multiple threats and fears.

Some may seem insurmountable.  However, it's prudent to believe that

whatever the threat or fear,  to overcome it, one must be grounded in faith;

hold on to the belief: one is never really alone.  In those moments,

difficult as it may seem, one would do well to rely on God, the Author of Life

who gives us strength in our weakness. Always remember, we can do all things

through Him!

Fear not the fierce wind, o gentle heart Though it may rattle the eaves And give no ear to its whispers with nothing to impart But shallow promises that hang, like dried, parched leaves Listen to its mournful wails on the way to some distant shore Leaving in its trail, the harsh rawness of a chill And envy not; give pity instead; be sure to keep no scores For the warmth of a gentle heart is by far, richer still For who can fathom the baleful howls invading valleys below; Billowing across the fragile earth and her boundless seas? Is it in anguish that she protests; who can really know? Yet, judge not, o gentle heart, but like a blade of grass amidst a storm Lay calmly into the wind; rely not upon your strength; stay strong ~*~

This seems to have some attempt at biblical phrasing. It reads well, but a lack of periods with convenient punctuation could leave readers questioning. I do like its implication of bending rather than breaking. Good write, keep up the good effort.

This is great! I love the imagery, the rhyme scheme, the esense it left. Keep it up! Check out my poem "the wind". It's almost a polar opposite, but you might find it interesting!

Hi Annalise, I love the tranquility and softness of your poems. They all seem to be held together in their own warm shells of certainty, dangling in the air like Christmas ornaments on a tree, protected by subtle language nuances that make it all clear. I enjoy the clarity and images they evoke. Keep up the good work. Have a wonderful day. Earl

Straight to my fav goes this beauty. A truly awe inspiring write! All great verses but this struck me strongly "And envy not; give pity instead and be sure to keep no scores For the warmth of a gentle heart is by far, richer still" Could not agree more! A blessed write my friend!

first of all I wanted to say the sensory was amazing, the word choice was unique, intriguing, and powerful all at the same time, seriously you have a lot of talent, and I hope to read more. The only suggestion I would make is to perhaps tweak the first stanza to : "Fear not the fierce wind, o gentle heart Though it may rattle the eaves, And give to you no ear, for it whispers with nothing to impart But shallow promises that hang, like dried, parched leaves"

Thanks for this message of hope, knowing that there is a greater power to rely on, as mine is puny and pales in comparison. A beautiful poem from a wonderful lady. One love. Joy Wells
