Nighttime Dreamer

NIGHTTIME DREAMER
I closed my eyes to catch the wind,
Murmur its way through the green of the field
Hoping somehow in it I'd hear,
You sigh sweetly as you oft do
For your heart on a sleeve you always wore
Even when life taught you to know better.

I hoped to catch you softly whisper
The wind, your harbinger in this silent night
Spreading your tales to the drowsy larks,
Who'll sing them to me at the crack of dawn
Of how another held your golden heart,
And was shallow enough to let it break

How gold thus break?, I wonder,
How a heart like yours can be led astray
For sitting by my window this eerie night,
I think up a thousand feverish words I'd say
To melt a golden treasure, thine heart,
But still I know words don't measure up

So I'll love you through the quiet night,
Daydreaming through the dead of night
As the wind sings to me your flawless name,
The leaves quivering with its every touch
For in this world I can love you free
And be the guardian of your golden heart.

White Flag

I can't judge you for judging me, I'd just be judging you too. I can't point a finger at you right now, three more will just be pointing back at me. Two negatives may make it right in Math, but here in the real world two wrongs only equal disaster.

So be patient with my impatience and I'll love you through your hatred. These daggers called words we're flashing in our faces might just find their way to somebody's throat. Let's throw down our daggers and smoke the peace pipe, let's wave our white flags in the darkness.

We may not be at peace but let's not be at war. We may not be friends no more, but let's not be enemies. For we better be strangers to each other than casualties of enmity's battles.

Let's walk away and breathe again than stay together and burn to ashes.

Gethsemane Prayer

Father, My Father the hour is come,
My weary heart feels the brewing storm,
Rome's Calvary to Me they hasten,
In Thy presence I kneel chastened.

Take Thy goblet from Me I pray,
Veer me away from the devil's way,
Hide Me within Thy towering pavilions,
Away from Caesar's bloodthirsty minions.

But not My will but Thine be done,
I stand obedient to Thee a Son,
Weary but willing to stand the test,
If that assures salvation for the rest.

So let Thine angel give Me strength,
For though My bloody sweat fall at length,
I'll drink this chalice of suffering still,
Knowing I harken to My Father's will.

To You then My breath I give,
Let death be for Me a brief reprieve,
And eternal life for the rest of human race,
Who'll sing forever Your Amazing Grace.

My Bad Habit

I've got this bad habit,
Lord knows I've tried to stop it,
But it just seems impossible,
Always getting me into trouble,
Making me do the oddest things,
Like trying to fly without wings,
Heaven knows I can't get through,
This habit of always falling for you.

Sometimes I swear with a raised hand,
To try and be a better man,
But when you walk and pass me by,
My determination tends to say goodbye,
And there I go right back to the start,
Chasing you around with a racing heart,
Coz heaven knows I can't get through,
This habit of always falling for you.

I've tried to sever all connections,
I've been to a dozen confessions,
To free me of this insane habit,
That seemingly bears no limit,
But still I lie awake all night,
Restlessly turning till the morning light,
For heaven knows I can't get through,
This habit of always falling for you

So you see, you're my nemesis,
To my insanity, its genesis,
Driving me through to the revelation,
That your smile to me, be my salvation,
For if not for your radiant face,
I may be without a saving grace,
Since heaven knows I can't get through,
This habit of always falling for you.

Valentine Profession

If Cupid had no arrow,
Shakespeare never penned Romeo,
And Juliet, and tales of Othello too,
Darling, I'd still love you.

If Titanic never sank in the deep,
While lovers pledged their love to keep,
Dying slowly but still staying true,
Darling you know I'd still love you.

Country music could just forget,
To sing of love, pain, and regret,
And pretend the sky is always blue,
Darling, truth is I'd still love you.

If romance was truly out our doors,
Gone with the ancient troubadours,
Leaving the world sinking in rue,
Darling, fear not I'd still love you.

Push me away if you can,
I'll just come back a better man,
For with everything we've been through,
Darling, be sure I'd still love you.

Lord Save Me

The night draws nigh, stars are gone,
Heavy clouds looming, have darkened the sun,
Making it tough to paddle this boat,
Along rough waters barely keeping it afloat.

Then He comes, waltzing on the sea,
As if the winds just let Him be,
A King even to the pelting rain,
My fear of the storm begins to wane.

So I say, "Lord to you I go,"
Then He bid me, "come on so,
Ride the tides and come to Me,
For child like faith remains the key."

One step, two steps, I walk on water!
With nerves racking up I go to the Teacher,
The sea and waves come to a standstill,
Bowing to a mere fisherman's will.

But then cometh the boisterous wind,
To storms like these am not akin,
I feel my faith slip from under me,
Food for fish I may soon be!

"Lord save me," yells my fainting plea,
"I am sinking Teacher, sure You can see,
Stretch out Your arms to me I pray,
Make this my testimony for another day."

Just when my waist drops past the water line,
I feel His ever loving arms on mine,
Relief, O sweet relief I feel,
Letting go and trusting the Saviour's will.

"O you of little faith, why did you doubt?
Why focus on the waves that toss about?"
When the Saviour bids you Come to Me,
Trust He'll guide you through the rough sea."

Dear Cupid

Dear Cupid,
I really wish you had a heart (too),
For then I'd sink your arrow in it,
Break one half off and walk away,
Leaving the shard nestling halfway through,
So you know the pain of a broken arrow.

Lovers beware of Cupid's arrows,
One end bears love, the other pain,
He could choose to sink the wrong end in you,
Break it off, fly away, right end in hand,
That's when you'll know living is cruel,
Battling the pain of a broken arrow.

Cupid, sometimes I really ought to hate you,
But mother taught me well to love babies right,
And baby brother Arnold can bear me witness,
For I tried, I tried to always play civil,
Even when infant jealousy peaked and blossomed,
I cuddled him still in my tiny fragile arms,
So I'll love you still with this broken arrow.

But make no mistake, I'll be lying in wait,
Patiently till the day you come of age,
Puberty knocking, and there I'll stand,
Nestling your arrow in my eager hands,
Before you know it I'll aim for your heart,
Sink it in deep with a smug smile on,
Break off the right end and breeze away,
Leaving you with the pain of your broken arrow.
