Craig Hawkins Poem
I was once asked if I wanted to live?
Did I have anything left to give?
Would I be able to justify this to my kin?
Could I be forgiven for my mortal sin?
Would my children understand?
Will the note I leave have clearly explained my plan?
How would I carry this act out?
Will there be any fallout?
Who would I want to find me?
Would it be a stranger or a member of family?
When would I want it to take place?
Could I hide my pain with my poker face?
Am I alone in this fight?
Will I see the bright white light?

Craig Hawkins Poem
My tears are streaming
His eyes were beaming
My thoughts turn to past acts
His thoughts expose the cracks
My never-ending mental torture
His tools are put in order
My race is coming to an end
His race is at the first bend
My end is nigh
His begins on a high
My time here has ended
His time is open ended

Craig Hawkins Poem
Hate is such a strong word
Much mental anguish will be incurred
Maintaining this painful thought
Is a long way from hitting the jackpot
This place which I spend most of the day
Makes me want to breakaway
Leave this mundane office with no daylight
Escape from the hustle of the bull fight
A place where silence is king
My stress will release like a coil spring
A few moments of empty brain space
Will give me a chance to try and erase
The misery of the place I call work
I will be standing there with a smirk
Watching the next poor crew of work men
Walking into the lion’s den

Craig Hawkins Poem
The tunnel seems long
Everything you have seems wrong
The darkness never ending
Your life balancing on a shoe string
But out of the darkness a light
The brightest and most gorgeous daylight
Appears at the end of the tunnel
Your coming to the end of your struggle
At the end of the day you are a survivor
Your family is your main driver
Your strength is what keeps you going
That keeps your blood flowing
Times ahead will be hard and tiresome
But you are capable of equating the entire sum
The survivor in you will come through
Onwards and upwards to pastures new
Always remember this one line
“Nothing ever stops for time”
Enjoy every moment as I’m sure you will
You won’t always be traveling uphill…

Craig Hawkins Poem
Together we lie on the crimson sheet
Hands pressed together, we are now complete
Worlds apart in so many ways
Our eyes fixed on each other with agaze
Years have passed since we last laughed
We need to rediscover our craft
But, Time is short when you reach life’s peak
Our body’s are worn down like a showroom antique
Our love for each other will never falter or cease
It’s now time for us to close our eyes and make peace

Craig Hawkins Poem
There is one stone left un-turned
One more decision left to make
The road ahead covered in doubt
Manifests of regrets line the routes
Empty shells of lost love sit idle
As the mountain streams flow blue
Turn over the stone and survey the ground
Because the grass seeds will re-grow
The swaying green grass returns with pride
As the woe of life subsides leaving us
With acres of green new pastures to explore

Craig Hawkins Poem
Three men walk into a bar
One is holding a guitar
He starts to sing a song
But no one sings along
Alone he plays his tune
On A sunny afternoon
The other men join in and sing
Out of the box they suddenly spring
Their voice’s aloud and proud
But still no response from the crowd
The three tenors they are not
But when in tune they hit the spot
Looking at each other all confused
Their pride is battered and bruised
Then someone happened to mention
The bar was at a hearing aid convention
In shock they stood at the bar
After realising no one could hear the guitar
Their heads hung in shame
As they point and start to blame
Then someone shouted “give us more”
The three more responded “Hell No”
Away they walk into the sunset
To travel home in their 1950’s corvette

Craig Hawkins Poem
The Wind howls and the rain pours onto the Perspex sheeted roof
The rain seems to be chasing me as if trying to find proof
Proof that this day has finally arrived with no escape route in sight
My life, My family, All under the heavy and bright spotlight
The last few days have been tough and sometimes grim
Sometimes it feels like I am drowning and unable to swim
Your breath ripped away by the tide which is fueled by gods wrath
How can life be so cruel, is our god we speak about a sociopath!
Its then I remembered why we are all standing there in the wet!
The memories are strong, good and I will never forget
The world suddenly seems brighter, no escape route needed
The seas are calm and gods wrath soon becomes unheeded
The final march of your blessed life is today
I have all been lucky to have been involved in your hysterical horseplay
Stories of you playing football as a child to the one with the tractor tyre,
You and your friends up the mountain pretending to be guns for hire
Yes, the rain will fall today and on future days and the seas will rise
But these found memories of my bampi will help me survive
My last gift to you bamp, is to make sure you get to the church on time
And for us all to support your wife, my nan, as she begins the steep climb

Craig Hawkins Poem
The Master Plan
A year has gone past
As I take my last
My last what, I hear you say
My last day, I sit and pray
Trying to retrieve any happy thoughts
Oh wait there, I used to love my mother’s freshly cut bread toast
Now all has gone, leaving an empty throne
A place which used to be my home
Where once I did stand tall
But inside, I was always feeling small
Puny, pathetic, a miserable man
That once upon a time tried to hold together the clan
Now it’s time to lie down, pills in my hand
Am I working to the master plan?
What will I miss? I hear you say
The TV, Radio, Work, in-laws, no way!!
Possibly, The birds tweeting good morning
To the sound of the ex-wife yawning
Only god knows where I will end up
As I pull the duvet cover up
What is the master plan?
Hopefully god is not a con-man!
Now, the year has finally passed
Here, I take my last…

Craig Hawkins Poem
Morning comes with a smack around the ear hole
Shaking me to the foundations of my sole
The morning meeting at 9 am
Is like the sound of a bell sent up from hell
As all parties take their seats
Competing as if they were in the Olympic qualifying heats
Musical chairs would be perhaps a better description
But at least half of the attendees would not understand the diction
The chairman calls for attention, we are about to begin
And pray to the Holy Father above to please forgive our sins
As we are about to enter into a fierce debate
As a result of these discussions we will open up the floodgate
I will not be held back in my opinions!
But they are valued the same as a one pound bag of onions
I hear what the other attendees say
And watch them scream to try and get their way
But I am just a no-one
A wanderer amongst the cow dung
The lowest of low
And to be honest, it show’s
That I don’t like going to the 9 am meeting
I would rather be sat by desk eating.
