Let Me In

You say we're on the same page
but I'm in another book
you say that you know me
come take a closer look
but no matter how close you get
the image remains the same
a touch without feeling
a face with no name
You see with your eyes but your heart is blind
your afraid to let go...afraid to unwind
what are you so afraid to lose
why are you so scared to choose
why are you afraid to cry
we are only human
with no wings to fly
Break down the titanium wall
please let me in
as long as we fight together
the battle we will always win.

Hello

If I walked on water
then turned it to wine
if I gave sound to the deaf
or sight to the blind
if I cured all the sick
and fed all the poor
would you believe it was me
or would you need more
if I showed you my face
would you distrust your own eyes
would you not be convinced
would you rationalize
if I whispered into your ear
that I am the Lord
would you believe in me then?
or would I still be ignored

You ask for a sign to help you believe
the first time in years you got down on your knees
The signs I have sent so far it seems you did not receive
some undetected, others misconceived
I'm going to try my hardest this time
pay close attention,
this is your very last and final sign
the date is today and now is the time

relax

breath

for once...just feel

for I am here

and I am real

Slam Time

The ability
the agility
to cause your humility
you lose stability
as I show no civility
It is the will of me
Its like a pill to me
a hypnotic narcotic
you become neurotic
my lyrics they frolic
dancing ballet
your ears my valet
to my poem soiree
you expected fast food
I fed you gourmet.

Stranger

When I was young, at the age of three
heart disease took my father from me.
I will not hear his voice say I love you
he wont be there to walk me down the aisle
the day I say I do
He was not there to teach me to ride a bike
didnt put together my first trike
he didn't see me off on my first day of school
or when I took my first high dive in the local pool
He didn't console me after my first heartbreak
or see me blow out my candles on my birthday cakes
he missed all my milestones
he'll never see how I've grown
or how beautiful his grandkids would be
he'll always remain a picture in my mind,
my own created memory.

Raven Or Crow

Do not be mistaken by the black feathers upon my chest
I am the mediator between life and death
Do not be fooled I am no omen
I have come as your ally not as your opponent
Do not begin this game of chess
until your adversary begins to manifest
For he is not the king upon the throne
but a dispensable pawn; a veteran on his own.
Just keep focusing on protecting your home,
leaving him wondering if you are a raven or a crow.

Dependent On You

The only way to define it is
Co-dependent confinement
The earth off it's axis
The planets out of alignment
all this time spent in silence
of my constant reliance
I'm in need of some guidance
out of your hypnotic trance
at first glance
the roads all lead to pain
I'm too used to being a dispensable pawn
in your twisted chess game
what do you have to gain
if I remain the same
what if i change
and go up in flames?

Fragile Handle With Care

I'm just being honest
I think you're the best
your one of a kind
so much different than the rest
what you see as flaws
is what I love about you
you do not compete
or deplete me
you don't keep score
you're not always trying to beat me

I've had this fantasy
this picture I painted of the pearl
who would be my best friend
who would let me into their world
I'm tired of sex, I'm aching for love
I'm soaring high, searching for my turtle dove
someone who understands me
and allows me in,
someone who will accept my past and forgive my sins
I can tell you've been through the ringer,
I have too
but we came out cleaner
than before we went through.

My heart is broken and so is yours
scattered in pieces all over the floors
afraid to sweep afraid to move one bit
for if you attempt to put it back together
it may not all fit
the pieces are not labeled so you don't know what you are missing
maybe in disguise its demise is a blessing
all you know is what you feel,
you ache for that missing piece
because without it you are not whole
not quite a masterpiece
you could search up and down
but the piece is nowhere to be found
you know where it belongs, it belongs in the center
the focal point of the picture
the reason that you enter
I vow I’ll never forget to remember
to always be your hearts defender.

The Devil Reveals

The mirror became clearer
the deception of her reflection
is just as she feared
displaying the monster
that haunts her
who taunts her
who wants her
to inhale
to impale
lifting her veil
adjusting her sail
expecting her to fail
he shows no restraint
as he attempts to taint the saint
aspiring to wash away the paint
of the beautiful landscape
causing a mutation
of the illustration
a new creation
a hallucination
the confusion
the illusion
causing delusion
by his intrusion
is just enough to amuse him

He tries taking control
of a beautiful soul
begging for worship
kneeling on hot coal
she fears no demon
for she lived with the devil
he was her alibi
she was his vessel.

She had deviated from his plan
didn’t agree to his demands
and so the day began
the horned feared beast
was no longer manned.

Co-Dependent Confinement

Picture a man and a woman naked side by side,
chains wrapped loosely around their necks
attached not to each other, but to the familiar horned beast that towers over them.
To others it appears obvious they could easily abdicate, however the couple does not view the same landscape
They stay comfortably bound to the monster they recognize
what may come to their surprise
they are their own adversary and their own allies
rather than escaping habit they CHOOSE to stay enslaved
not living but surviving, one foot in the grave.
Its not that they are unable ,they know they can be free
they are just so accustomed to not being able to breathe.

They are hoping that they can illustrate their own reality,
create their own light, dreaming of freedom
whilst still believing the chains are skin tight.

Never Enough

If I wear my heart on my sleeve
You unravel the thread
No need to grieve
For I am already dead
You should have listened
To the words that I said
Instead you were trapped
By the thoughts in your head

If I pull the knife out of my back
You sharpen the blade
If trump is hearts
I have a handful of spades
If I light a match
You pour gas on the flame
If I served you a meal on a silver plate
Youd ask why it's not gold
And told me dinner was late

If I told you to leave
Youd glue yourself to the floor
If I gave you everything
You'd always want more.
