Theseus of Greek Mythology

clew a thread unraveled it pulls me back away from the scene where I had done battle other heroes are god-touched their fathers' powers aiding them sore and wounded ... I retrace my steps the heartstring of my love will pull me through

Aliens

The alien saucer fell hard.
It landed right there in my yard.
    I'd give them jobs mowing
    or cooking and sewing
but none of them has a Green Card.

Cookies

My cookies have gone missing and I don't know where they are.
I planned to give them to my friends as symbols of good cheer—
one dozen monster cookies, each one shaped into a star.

The finest of the recipes in my small repertoire,
this was to be the final batch that I baked up this year.
My cookies have gone missing and I don't know where they are.

I left them in the pantry—they were too big for the jar.
I set them on the bottom shelf next to my husband's beer,
one dozen monster cookies, each one shaped into a star

Whichever person took them, left the pantry door ajar—
It isn't like my homemade goods routinely disappear.
My cookies have gone missing and I don't know where they are.

I find the circumstances are a little bit bizarre.
I guess I need to bake some more before my friends get here—
one dozen monster cookies, each one shaped into a star.

I found crumbs in the driveway where my husband parks his car—
if it turns out that he took them, I will kick him in the rear!
My cookies have gone missing and I don't know where they are—
one dozen monster cookies, each one shaped into a star.

The Function Pow of X To the Y

pow(x,y) You can create a function to relate the value of x raised to power y. One clever way to exponentiate is to repeat a simple multiply. If y is zero, just return a one— for ev’ry number, that will be the case. And when y equals one, your work is done— the answer will be x, your starting base. For ev’ry other value y can be, just multiply by x, recursively.

Liar

My poetry really does suck.
I look for true rhymes, but get stuck.
Though my meter is fine,
When you follow each line
you’ll see that they all run amok.

How To Bake a Savory Pie

Because I want the crust to gently flake,
I cut in frozen butter to make crumbs.
I'll wash the shell with egg before I bake;
you'll note how delicate the crust becomes.

I fill the egg-washed shell with chunks of meat,
potatoes, carrots, onions and some peas.
Of course no proper sav'ry pie's complete
without some Worcestershire and grated cheese.

I add those to a gravy for the sauce.
then pour it gently so as not to spill.
Next, cover it with pastry strips, criss-cross--
a lattice showing off my baking skill.

And, finally, some foil wrapping 'round
so that the edges won't become too browned.

Laundry

Who do we root for? Which guys do we cheer? Since most of “our” players won’t be here next year. You cannot predict it, there’s no way to know which free agents leave and which scrubs are let go. Some guys will be traded, some waivered away. There’s no way to tell whether players will stay. It isn’t just this club but other clubs too; it’s out with the old and then in with the new. For, every team thinks with the right mix of guys October will bring them the ultimate prize. So always stay true to the team that you chose. Don’t root for the players–just root for their clothes.
