That Rule Was Begging To Be Broken

That rule was begging to be broken
Y’know the one about women?
Of conformity for cat calls and
Gift wrapped shoulders and legs?
How about “no” to breastfeeding
How about “whore” for “too revealing”?
I’m sick of these notions, it’s too unappealing.
I am a nonconformist of a woman
The one that daunts you in your wake.
Come at me with your “don’t”s for women
I’ll show you my scars of everyday crusades.
I’ve battled tirades of piercing tongues
Of sharp fingers engraved into skins
I’m supposed to be hidden beneath them
Because I walk like i’m a woman
Because I walk like a human being
But I stomp these woman feet of mines
To tell you “That ain’t gonna be me”
Nor will it be any woman in this world
‘Cause that rule was begging to be broken
When this woman marched for gender equality.

I'Ve Left My Heart Exposed

I’ve left my heart exposed
To all your vulnerabilities
For they provoked some truth in you
That you often hid from me.

If I could read your silences,
I would assume you were afraid
That i’d reveal your secrets
That have kept you confined this way.

I do not want you to think
That you can trust only yourself
For when I did so, I lost my ability
To love my life and myself.

You are much more beautiful
When you babble about your day
And when you tap me on the shoulder
Just to hear what I have to say.

I never get tired of you
And if you think I do, please tell me.
Please show me who you are and how you feel
Because i’m in love with you and all of your stories.

Home

Home.
The deepest crevices of your arms felt like home.
It was a place of warmth and comfort
A place where I can nudge my nose into when it is cold from all the outdoors.
It reminded me of a sunset that I can feel close to me
I melted whenever I would push my nose up against your armpits.
I wondered of all the adventurous stories you've gone through
Those armpits of yours.
It was a story of a sunset when I felt it on my nose.
My nose was my eyes whenever I felt the tip of the
words brush on me.
It was moist from all your trekking and warmth from all the talking
You’ve been through the day.
It smelled nice too, like a field of ivies and dandies
Home.
What a place to be when I’ve trudged up all the mountains of life.
Home.
A place where I can be, putting my legs up on the sofa and slouched
You remind me of a place I want to walk through, but it is there.
There for me here in this place I call home too.

The Wanderer, a Flower Bloomed

A flower bloomed amongst the desert floor
It look like it had been bitten
Bitten by a wild wolf that had lost itself.
Its petals were torn
Its stem was bruised
Yet it held itself steadfast and strong
As the winds flew by, it held onto the floor
Beautifully it swayed with the patterns
Though its colors were almost fading
It was alone
A passerby came and saw the flower
Plucked it right off the ground
He put it into a jar and kept it sealed shut
Doused it in drips of waters from his water can
He carried it as he went about walking through the desert
It kept him safe at night as its colors almost faded with its thirst and air
It shined bright in the night as the passerby slept through the night
The flower could not sleep
The air was tight and there was barely any water
Yet it stood its most upright
Waiting for the sun the shine through
When the passerby awoke, the flower was weeping in its pain
The passerby poured water and unsealed the jar
To find it awakening from all the abandonment
The passerby saw that it needed clear air and and abundance of water
So he walked to the nearest oasis
He rooted the plant down near there
And left to trek on his own
The flower had slowly begin to bloom with life
It had shared its seeds with the desert around it
The oasis had begun to be filled with flowers
Now the passerby would visit every so often to come to the oasis
And see the flower he had saved
He knew which one it is amongst the flowers
It was the one that shown bright in the sunlight
He named it evergreen because of its ability to live through the desert heat
And retain its colors throughout its lifetime
Evergreen.
It was a place he called home.
The wanderer, the passerby.

The Wonder Woman In Me

When my story becomes forgotten beneath the eyes
that dare not to know me more than who I am outside,
in every minute of every hour of my life, I will always be strong.
In my heart, there will always be a wonder woman
waiting to unfold when the rain had washed away the words off my story
and left only drips of black waters and seemingly new sheets.
Or when the sun shines brighter than my eyes can bear to open
And helps the grass stand its most upright
The wonder woman that is dormant until I need her the most
Will still unfold and become the something
That I aspire to be of every minute of every hour of my life
Because while I am busy thinking how life can be so damn unfair
Or when life brings me all the desires of my heart
Wonder woman will continue to make me strong
Humble
Kind
And
Understanding.

Dreams

Oh how difficult it is to find purpose
Longing for the day I find mines
The truth of all this wandering
I can't seem to find my own
Own way of life, own way of knowing
Of the times that make me happy
I am aging in every minute
But the songs just won't produce
I am building a life of lostness
Of finding a source in this mystery we call life
Others seem to have find it so easily
Yet their journey isn't unfolded
Oh how I envy these people
where they've gone where I want to go
And I am seeking to find that place
where I can finally say "I made it!"
Oh how it is difficult to see the path
But I am trying and I am finding
That this road is hard for anyone
I can't be the only one!
I am yet to finding my calling
So I can say that I have tried
With this dream that may
Someday
Be Reality.

Breathe

Fast, fast as it comes
It arrives, never leaves
Looping, no end or beginning in sight
Frozen in place yet moving
Deep breaths
