Gigaflops

Gigaflops

Did you meet the Boogyman
Did you see his stare?
Or were you in the land of nod
Blissfully unaware
Of the face that’s at your window
Or the menace in your room
Or the giant bug that’s infiltrated each device you own
The sinister reflection to be remotely viewed
Or the troll that sits in wait beneath your old computer stool.

Did you know the Boogyman had come tonight to stay?
To interfere, to change the rules, to win, to have his way.
To permeate the World Wide Web and take complete control
To hack into your emails and alter all your codes
Open up your firewall, check that it’s enabled
Test your antivirus make sure that it is stable
Back up all your data your photos and your files
Scan and defragment, reformat your drives
Ask yourself which Boogyman do you fear the most
The worm, the thread, the virus, or the awful viral ghost

Step into the Matrix, be one with the machine
Understand it from within, if only in your dreams
Feel the power that drives it, look behind closed doors
Recognise the program files, could they possibly be yours
Switch off your computer, let the screen turn black
Gaze into the monitor and see it staring back
Even when the power is off the monster you can view
Face to face you realise, the Boogyman is you.

Forever

Forever

Fighting again – what a shock
Our love seems to somehow be blocked
Really, let’s fix this mess
End bad feelings, distress
Value anew
Every trial we’ve been through
Remember how much I love you

Tableau of Life

Possesions apart
Joy can fill your heart
Real treasures we see
Are totally free
Just look, you’ll agree.
Behold them with glee.

Quote“Happiness doesn’t lie in the objects we gather around us. To find it, all we need to do is open our eyes.”

Stuck

STUCK!!!!!!!

Aagh, I’m trapped in the toilet
Look - the lock it is broke,
Help me, what do I do?
I’ve pushed it and pulled it
And yet still it won’t budge,
I’ve not more ideas, have you?

I can’t reach the light
And the time’s ticking on,
The temperature’s started to drop,
It’s cold and I’m hungry
So now, what to do?

I can hear someone
Quite close, just outside,
What are you doing -
Ooops the door slides!

Now feeling silly,
So totally blond
What a crock!

Now free
I thank -

YOU!!!!

Hope For Tomorrow

Hope for Tomorrow

Daddy, why are you wearing a poppy?
What is it trying to say?
Why does this act of remembering
Happen on only one day?

Mummy, why are you buying a poppy?
And why does it have to be red?
why just the blood not the body
Is all we recall of the dead?

Granny, why do all of the poppies,
Worn by the thousands today,
Fall out of favour tomorrow,
Then just get thrown away?

Grandad, why does the heart of the poppy
Look like a black lump of coal?
All those soldiers that died for our freedom
Surely they had hearts made of gold.

Daddy can I wear a poppy
But I want mine to be white
I want to hope for the future
That next time we might get it right!

A Hug

The Hug

I’m just a hug if you need me
If you’re down and close to despair
Close your eyes and I know that you’ll feel me
And you’ll know that I really am there.

I’m just a hug if you need me
I’ll always be there by your side
Ready to help when I’m needed
But happy to just be your guide.

I’m just a hug if you need me
Able to share in your woes
Call my name, I’ll be there to support you
Raise you up, keep you safe, help you know-

That this hug is here when it’s needed
Prescribed by the doctor upstairs
As a tonic to lighten your spirit
And a shield in case no one else cares

I’m just a hug if you need me
A step away from your soul
Ask, I’ll be there to protect you
I’m the master of all of your foes.

If Only

If Only

When I was a dot on my mummy’s knee
I wish I had listened to what she told me
She was so wise, I was just not
She knew much more than I’ve ever forgot

I was her baby, she was my mum
I wish I could change half the things I've done
I rewarded her daily by driving her mad
Causing her heartache and making her sad

Blaming her always that life wasn’t fair
Loudly declaring she didn’t care
Yet no matter how heated life had become
She still stood beside me ‘cos she was my mum

The day she took flight and this life did depart
It left such a dreadful hole in my heart
Don’t do what I did, don’t make my mistakes
Stay close to your mothers for goodness sake.

Shelter Me

Shelter Me

It’s just a cardboard box my friend,
No good to man nor beast,
Until the dreadful night descends
It’s there you’ll have to sleep,
Then it becomes your shelter,
Paper walls become your home,
You’ve nothing else to cling to,
And nowhere else to go.

It’s just a cardboard box my friend,
You’re quick to throw away,
Not thinking that tomorrow
It may be where you’ll lay,
Beneath a cardboard ceiling
On a bed of solid stone,
With nothing left to warm you
But a coat, you’re all alone.

It’s just a cardboard box my friend
I’m sure you must agree,
That there, but for the grace of God,
Lies either you or me,
A cruel and lifeless empty space,
Where many souls lay crying,
Remember as you pass them by
They’re now on us relying.

Cat-As-Trophe

Cat-as-trophe

A purrrfect little kitten became a purrrfect cat,
With milk all round her whiskers and cobwebs as her hat.
She rubs against your jumper, just to say hello,
And leaves behind a hairy mess on you and your best throw.

Excitedly she’ll spring up high, swiping at a fly,
Just missing your best teacup as Bonnie whizzes by;
Finally she comes to rest upon the kitchen door,
Safely out of reach of baby rug rat on the floor.

For hours she’ll sleep upon the door, her paws flopped either side,
Oblivious to all that’s past, ‘since the time she closed her eyes.
She didn’t hear the doorbell or greet your guests with glee,
She didn’t even notice when the rug rat ate his tea.

With babe asleep and food prepared you turn to make a cuppa,
Unaware that as you do, well, Bonnie’s pinched your supper.
Like a bolt of lightning she flashed across your plate,
Clearing it in one foul swoop then leaving in disgrace.

She looks so sweet, you can’t be cross even if you tried,
It’s funny just to watch her try to get her prize outside.
Unable to negotiate the cat flap in the door,
She drags her ill begotten gains beneath your chest of drawers.

It isn’t long before a dreadful smell wafts in the air,
Bonnie’s proudly spraying all your furniture with flare;
Angrily you lift the cat to take her straight outside -
But as you do you realise that Bonnie’s really Clyde.

Busted

Busted
When Santa got stuck down the chimney
What a terrible fright for young lives
Imagine the sight that then met them
Imagine their awful surprise.
With a crash and a thump and a holler
A bang and a whoosh and a boom
The magical globe trotting Santa
Daintily entered their room!

He landed full square in their fireplace
His hat flopped down over his eyes
He looked really much more like Black Beard
Except he was double the size.
The children sat up in amazement
Then hid and peeped through a crack
As this unfortunate dirty old Santa
Was hit on the head by his sack.

The air turned quite blue for a moment
When he finally uttered a cry
I’ve hurt every bone in my body
Was the gist of what he implied
Now Rudolph looked down from above him
Shook his head and then let out a sigh
Get up you clumsy old has been
We still have work left to do tonight.

Well Santa looked right up that chimney
His plight became clear in a flash
He was stuck with his sack at the bottom
And didn’t know how to get back.
The children, still hid in the corner
Just couldn’t believe what they saw
As this dirty old Santa recovered
Did his job and then limped out the door.

They watched as he climbed out the window
His suit now completely akimbo
But Rudolph was there with the sleigh and a spare
He now had clean clothes to change into.
Once more Rudolph rescued the big man
Stamped his hoof, got him out of his whirl
Threatened to leave less he focus
You know, of course, Rudolph’s a girl!!!!

The children got up in the morning
Frustrated, annoyed and distressed,
For their bedroom looked just like a bombsite
Where two sacks of gifts had been left
Despite having left him a message
Stating ‘ please do not leave so much trash,
We are modern day children remember
What we want is a cheque or some cash’
