The Hug

I’m just a hug if you need me	
If you’re down and close to despair
Close your eyes and I know that you’ll feel me
And you’ll know that I really am there.

I’m just a hug if you need me
I’ll always be there by your side
Ready to help when I’m needed
But happy to just be your guide.
	
I’m just a hug if you need me
Able to share in your woes
Call my name, I’ll be there to support you
Raise you up, keep you safe, help you know-

That this hug is here when it’s needed
Prescribed by the doctor upstairs
As a tonic to lighten your spirit
And a shield in case no one else cares

I’m just a hug if you need me
A step away from your soul
Ask, I’ll be there to protect you
I’m the master of all of your foes.
