Sly

I knew you were a big boy,
right from the start.
I took you home,and into
my heart.

You kept all the dogs,out
of my yard.
Being on a chain,must
have been hard.

You were so loveable,
and oh so strong.
I couldn't hold you up,
for very long.

I named you after,Sly
Stallone.
The muscles you had,
were as tough as stone.

I didn't want to, let
you go.
Because,in my heart,
I loved you so.

I took you to the Shenandoah
vet,Because you were our
loving pet.

I looked for a way,
to keep you alive,but
the vet said,you would
never survive.

So,we had to put
you to sleep.
Our love for you,will
be forever deep.

In heaven now,you
will stay.
We'll bow our heads,
and begin to pray.

I hope you know,
we'll miss you Sly.
We did not want,
to say good-bye.

My Baby's Rod

My Baby's rod,is
big and bad.
My Baby's rod,just
can't be had.

He shifts the gears,
one through five.
No one here will
ever survive.

When he peels out,
he leaves rubber behind.
But, really, he's gentle
sweet, and kind.

My Baby's rod, is so
big and fast.
My Baby's rod wants to trash.

Get out of his way,
he's coming through.
Cause my Baby's rod is
after you.

Now Is the Time

Son,can't you see the
hurt in my eyes.
The anger in you,I do
despise.
You look me in the eye,
and tell me many lies.

You could be,so soft
and sweet.
Instead you choose,
to lie and cheat.

If only,you could have
had a dad.
A better life,you would
have had.

I know that I'm to
blame,because your
father,played the game.
I know you just can't
help but feel the shame.

Mother, and father, I
could not be.
So,Please don't blame,
only me.

I tried to make,your
life the best.
Now,it's time,for me
to rest.

When I'm gone,you
will see.
The love there was,
coming from me.

My love for you,will
always be.
Just open your eyes
and try to see.

Please don't take,this
poem wrong.
It's been due,for oh
so long.

You kids have been ,
my whole life.
The cold shoulders
you give,cut like a knife.

If you love me,like
you say.
You'll drop to your
knees,and start to pray.

So,bye for now,it's
time to leave.
My hurt,you will now
wear,on your sleeve.

I'm going to heaven now,
don't you see.
God, is the only one,
that heard my plea.

I'll be in heaven,for
a long, long,time.
Someday again,I'll
be with; those kids
of mine.

Advice From a Fool

You and Lori just couldn't
stand each other.
So,you came home,to be
with your mother.

You both have played me,
for a fool.
To do that to your mother,
just isn't cool.

You and Lori played both
ends against the middle.
To get releif,I had to solve
the riddle.

Two years have gone by,
and you still have a love,
that will not last.
Why,don't you just forget
it,and leave it in the past.

I know you still love her,
as much as a golf club
putter.
So,don't you lie to me,
or even stutter.

The love you seek,you
will never find.
Because you go into it,
so very blind.

If you both would grow
up,and get your head
on straight.
A good life you would
have,and wouldn't that be great.

The more people you use,
the more you'll lose.
The more you lose,the
shorter your fuse.

So,you see,I knew
everything all along.
Just remember,I tried
to tell you,and I'm not
always wrong.

If you're still going to
see Lori,and you feel
your starting to smother.
For heavens sake,don't
just sit there,go out some
where,and find another.

Bretts Grandpa

Bretts Grandpa,was
old and kind.
He loved to play the
harmonica,at Christmas time.
It sent the chills,up and
down my spine.

When I first met him,
Brett wasn't sure f he
would even like me.
But,we hit it off,like
a busy bee,and the life
of a tree.
I'm so glad to have known him,
and I always will be.

I listened to him talk,
which wasn't so bad.
He was the other grandpa,
I never ever had.

No one understood him,
like I did.
I gre up,with the old ways,
when I was a kid.

He was like my mother,
in many ways.
If he wasn't happy,
everyone pays.

He liked to gather,
with his family,
sit out on the back porch,
and be happy with glee.

One day he had called,
and wanted no one around.
A new life he had started,or
thought he had found.

His family slowly drifted
away.
I don't know how it happened,
oh, what can I say.

Alone,he was,in his own
little way.
No family to love,now he
must pay.

The Lord took him,so
sudden and fast.
A dark shadow on his
family,he did cast.

Alone now,and in the
ground at last.
His memories,he has
now,left in the past.

His family,he has left,
so sad and blue.
Waiting to go to heaven,
just like you.

We have all learned,
from his mistakes.
Our lives,for granted,
we will not take.

So,sleep now grandpa,
and be at peace.
You have now earned
your release.

Easter Morn

My heart is broken,
my heart is torn,
Here on this day,
of Easter Morn.

Our families gather,
for Easter fun.
Out in the grass,and
out in the sun.

We spend the day,
in laughter and joy.
Through the day,we
do deploy.

If, only I had a family
again.
A new tradition,we
could begin.

They have all gone
a stray.
Later in life,I think
they will pay.

The battle of life,
they have lost.
They'll leave it behind
at all cost.

Abetter life,they will
never know.
Because they chose
to work and let it go.

I guess it all,isn't so
bad.
You can't lose something
you never had.

My grandson is quite
the little lad.
He always accepts,the
good with the bad.
Someday, he will grow up,
and be,quite a dad.

Even though my family
is gone.
I will always love them,
from dusk till dawn.

My Kevin

Here is my Kevin,can
you see.
He's come home to see
you and me.

Out of the blue,he's come
from the past.
Home, to see his mother,
he's here at last.

It's so good to see him,
we waited so long.
I was so glad to see him,
I could have sung me a song.

I love him so much,it's
plain to see.
So happy to have him,I
finally feel free.

He's tall and handsome,
and a very nice man.
In this America,we call
our land.

He has a wonderful wife,
and two great kids.
I'm so happy with them,
I could flip my lid.

All is good, in my little
space.
Cause I got to see,his
cute little face.

Rest now Mom,and be
at peace.
All is well,and it will
not cease.

God is with us,all the
way.
Tomorrow will bring
a wonderful day.

Forever Asleep (Eulogy)

Here I am,forever asleep,
Here I lie,so cold and deep.
The Lord shall take,my sul
to keep.
No prayers from you,I shall
repeat.

When I was awake,I tried,
and tried.
I've taken the time,and
swallowed my pride.

Here I am,so very cold,
in the ground,and very
old.
If I were alive,I'd be
so bold,and let you
know,that you've been
told.

Here I lie,so short
and sweet.
Being down here,just
ain't no treat.
Please help me Lord,
and warm my feet.

If I were you,would
sraighten up,or you'll
be here,facing up.

So,here I'll be,to
rest and rest.
Someday,I'll be,with
the best.

Say a prayer,and
let me be.
To rest alone,by
this tree.

The Vegas Trip

I'm off to Vegas,on a trip.
Gotta hurry,gotta split.
When I get there,I know
not where.
I hope she sees me
standing here.

I'm so scared,and I
don't know why.
I really think,I just
might cry.

I'm pretty sure,we'll
have some fun.
Out in Vegas,in the sun.

I boarded the plane,
thinking,Boy! am I insane.
I watched the people laughing,
and chatting,and even some patting.
I said to myself,calm down and don't
be so lame.

I waited so long,and got
so scared.
Somehow I knew my life
would be spared.

We took off,and I broke
into tears.
I was so scared,I lost
a few years.

At 36000 ft.,I started to
calm down.
Even though I still wore
that frown.

I kept my shade
closed.
I tried very hard,to
remain composed.

Three hours.on an
hour flight.
Beleive me guys,we
were packed in tight.

Drinks,and snacks,they
did serve.
It took me awhile,to
work up the nerve.

Lakes,valleys,circles,
and squares.
No other ride can
compare.

When I found out I had
cancer,I didn't know how
to feel.
But,to ride on a large jet,
that was a big deal.

I Have

I have been a fool for
all these years.
I've sat and let you
bring out my tears.

I have been your leaning
post.
Even though,you disliked
me the most.

I have given you support,
in your sadness,and
your sorrow.
Even though I might not
be here tomorrow.

I have kept quiet,when
you were in a rage.
But, now its time,for me
to turn the page.

I have sat around,waiting
for you to call.
Then you would just go
off somewhwere else and
play baseball.

I have cooked you dinners
that were always on time.
Then when you were late,
you would tell me,that
you were on line.

I have planned many a holiday,
only for you to tell me,you can
not stay.

I had so many plans for our
family,and that's no joke.
Only for my plans to go up
in smoke.

I have long since given up.
I'll just sit here now, and
play with my pup.

Someday, you will look
back,and wonder why it
tok you so long to get
back on track.

So son,Please don't
worry,I'll be just fine.
Living my life,out in th
pines.

You have always come to
me,for love and compassion.
Then you would go to your
dad,and the love he gave,he
would only ration.

Why can't you see,I love you
and Sandi the most.
When it comes to your dad,
for the things he has done,
he will only boast.

Many times your dad has
told you,I was a bad mother.
But, in your dads lies,you
will only smother.
He was the one that chose
another.

You should know me very
well,I can not lie.
I'll stand by my words till
the day I die.

Son, you really should not
scream at me,as I am your
mother.
If, I wanted to hear that,I
would go to my brother.

I have been patient,Kind,
and considerate.
You don't have to treat me like
i'm an illiterate.
