Black Community

It’s not easy being a black man
Trapped in the streets hoping to make it through the Rain man
All life trends leading to hard times
Watching mama praying for better days saving dimes
I ask myself, what’s the world really turning to?
Little children falling pregnant for an older dude,
Illiteracy rising high in my neighbor hood
No hope for a better future, they dropping out of school,
Selling chalk for a living, they now thugs too
Then one wonders why cemeteries aint filled with Jews,
I say they Jesus people filled with only good views

I Understand

I’ve listened, I’ve heard
I’ve wondered, I’ve cried
I’ve been hurt a countless of times,
But I understand

Every blunt word you directed to me to express hate,
At first it used to shutter me into mirror pieces,
Reflecting the agony and anguish I felt
But today I realized, I understand

You drew me close to you,
For every moment I had with you turning to a dream come true
The caressing, the warm kisses, the long hugs to be long over due
Nothing making sense to me except the sound of love in my heart thudding in tune,

More of you for me,
A drug for a definition would be limiting to define,
More of a God that my life depends on everyday
Love being my religion of praise,
“Baby please don’t leave me”
I knelt every day to recite such a phrase
But I understand

Imagining a life without you was a nightmare
Living a life with you was hell,
Both scenarios were not recommended as they brought pain and despair
Tick tock, tick tock, the tireless clock escalating in pace
Living me with less time to spare,
Thomp…Thomp, my tears falling yet again
“Baby please don’t leave me”
To conclude yet another day of shame

Today I’m bold, the true definition of a middle finger
Directed to my past and all the pain I used to linger
They say all good things come to an end,
Yeah, I’m not gonna play that game of calling you names of regret
I’m glad I met you, I’m proud I fell in love with you
For whatever reason you degraded me for, I understand
For whatever reason you avoided my phone calls, I understand
For all the attention I tried to give yet you turned down, I understand
For all the messages you never replied, I understand too
A good lesson is never learnt through excellence, but a good lesson is learnt through disappointments and countless of tries
For what you taught me is a lesson to die for,
To accept and to understand the things I cannot change
Today I’m proud to say,
 I understand……

When You Felt Alone

There was a time you felt alone,
A time you thought the world had ended and nobody will find you
A time when the dark cloud had fallen to your head and no light could illuminate your path,
When the rivers over flowed their banks and ruptured that cute smile of yours and left you wry for a moment
You prayed for better days with a bitter voice
Hoping to see light when all that appeared was a blurred void
For a moment there was silence during your presence
Your heart stopped from thudding like a gong
Your tears stuck on replay like a song
Nobody could see what you where going thru due to failure of realizing a wrong
Death being your obsession
You surely felt no happiness for a while in your possession
As feeling alone was one of your greatest depressions
'Harsh the pain' your mind could say but your heart couldn't heal from that severe collapse
You needed someone to give you props
Someone to caresses u, and someone to wipe your tear drops
Someone who won't point out at your wrongs, but try to correct your faults
Someone who would say, 'thru thick and thin I will be there for you till your heartache stops'
But all you had was a memory
A memory that linked you to the past
The past when your world had ended
How it ended something you never wanted to remember
A remembrance that made u feel alone
Alone because of loosing yourself to the world
The world that brought misery to your life
A life that was better with no love

Empty

Tongue tied I can be,
Lonely I may seem to be,
Weak like a poverty seed,
But remember, I’m a man in this world of sin
Strong for my sorrows to deal
Brazen like a raging wind,
My heart is not for cupid anymore
I understand I misunderstood, but what you don’t understand is that you misunderstood
Love isn’t what I long for anymore,
Happiness isn’t what I hope for anymore
My feelings are barren and I’m done trying,
My emotions are ghostly for centuries been buried
I wish I had the answers to give to you,
But all I know is I’m empty like a clock without a ram

I'M a Peacock

I resemble a king yet I’m a servant for life
I cry golden tears yet my pockets are filled with dimes
My dreams are infinite yet reality ends in cries
For a man like me, the world ain’t enough for my one two strides

I see the world on a rearview with my present on rewind
Every moment is the same the only difference is time
For me to be a better man I need to let the past go behind
As I’m sure to rip the sows as my pride is my ride

My friend is wonder and my surname is sorrow
I got married at a tender age in my adolescent phase
Wedded to the devil who promised hunger no more
Yet feeling empty still searching for my soul which is hard to trace

I’m a man with a million names still searching for perfection
I gleam with light for the blind to see my reflection
I’m standing still like a stain ever fixed in my position
Who am I? I’m a peacock taking pride for my ambition

Maybe

Maybe I was 2 faced,
Maybe I lied,
Maybe you were never wrong of what you said,
Maybe it’s true that the sun comes after the rain,
Maybe my eyes are visible yet my mind is blind
Maybe after a wrong there’s a right
Maybe after every love there’s a fight
Maybe every kid is scared of the night
Maybe I died long back before mama held me tight
Maybe the sky is the limit yet dreams are infinite
Maybe I do have a point,
Maybe that point is the reason why there’s a maybe
Maybe there’s no answer,
Coz maybe shows I’m not precise, but maybe I’m right

Missing Piece

My tears are bitter and warm
They carry so much weight but take no form
The pain and anguish in my heart never growing old
Every heart beat at a split of a second turning cold
I seem to hear voices in my head in the presence of my silence,
I look around for some answers just to see a bit of reminiscence,
The minute I close my eyes I'm introduced to a different world,
My heart thudding, it feels like its the end of the road.

I call on you to hear me out,
My words have eroded, this time no lie can bail me out,
The future is bleak, the past is the only thing I have now,
Only if time was tangible, I would turn the clock around.
For every second that I have I reserve for good use,
For every word through my tongue I speak nothing but the truth.
I'm widowed to every moment I lost without you,
My tears embracing every heartache I felt when I lost you,
Now I'm standing alone wondering what to do to have you,
The truth is hard to swallow when the fact states that I can't have you,
