Dear Ex

Dear Ex,

I know you and I had our differences.
We were always finding new ways to say I loathe you.

It was my blameworthiness that allowed the rain to enter your car,
because your window was down.
I’m sorry I didn’t carry my 9 months of pregnant girth,
down four flights of stairs, to the
outside parking deck, in the rain to roll it up.

It was my fault when the bank account was overdrawn by 6 cents,
due to paying all the bills on time.
I apologize for keeping the power turned on
so I could cook fish sticks and green bean soup on your salary.

It was my fault the car was always out of gas,
since I never drove it anywhere.
What could I do but apologize for that?
It was totally my fault. By the way, I met your supervisor.

Like when I forced you
to have an extramarital relationship with a co-worker
because of the weight I had gained.
I’m so sorry my Motherhoodness was so repulsive to you.

It also was my fault our marriage didn’t last longer than 3 years,
because I chose to be happy without you.
I do regret that almost never. Did I mention my promotion?
But let’s not be sad.

For all the hurtful comments I made about your manhood because,
I couldn’t think of anything nice to say. I’m sorry.
I regret that I didn’t save some of those photos for Ripley’s Believe it or Not.

I deeply regret having never told you I entered you in an ugly man contest.
Or that your third placement, won me an additional $5 gift card.
Did I mention my new job?

So Ex,
I hope this heart felt letter of apology
finds you prosperous and in good health.
Keep those support payments coming, and
Don’t forget to feed the kitty!

Love, your new boss

Your Words

Your words,
are projectiles
dripping with Arsenic
and aimed at my heart
spitting out darts and swords
that expertly find their mark
and draw blood

Your words,
when aimed at others
are carried by Pixies
and sprinkled
with honey and sugar coatings
that melt in their ears
and taste of confection

Your words,
cloak me in pain and guilt
for undone atrocities
and imagined factors
as your blame
riddles my soul
causing it to
prune, wither, and crust

Your words,
accusing, spiteful, degrading, malicious
paintings of what I once thought
was an indestructible bond of Love
that no one
should be able to destroy

and yet
you do so
with your words.

I've no soul left
no appetite for your touch
no desire to want for anything

except

to become deaf
so I will no longer
have to listen to

your words

Utter Nonsense

One cold day, I was burning up
The rain outside was dry
The sunshine, mooned each falling star
Out there, inside was I

Reading, when I'm fast asleep
I saw no movement stand
I reached without and outstretched arm
to flick the fly that land

Bouncing, being very still
I thought it lively, dying
When up it sprang, just flatly
All it's energy, spent trying

Salt I sprinkled, as it poured
Atop, the underneath, it's belly
Finally flopping, to and fro
Then landing in my jelly

Mother

Mother, you're the lighthouse
That illuminates my path
Mother, Your the advisor,
and consoler of my wrath

Mother, you're the toothpaste,
that keeps my language clean
Mother, your the glasses
that keep my vision keen

Mother, you're the walking cane
that guides me along the way
Mother, you're the crimson rose
I stop to smell each day

Mother, you're the safety pin
when things won't come together
Mother, you're my rainbow
right after stormy weather

I thank God for all you do
and what you mean to me
I love you Mom, I always will
For all eternity

Hair In Red Overalls

I

I knew a time when my sister, tall and fair
with her sage sense of humor, dull and non-existent
Seemed positively,
metallic, blessed with flowing shackles, a gift, extended only to me.
Limiting my growth past 8 years, haunting my dreams until age 21
always advising her younger sis, to teary boredom
“Do as I say”, “whereso’er I may”
Lend me your shoe to prove my superiority.
By night or day,
I am your stone Buzzard and I will pick your bones

II

This I suffered
The rainbow might as well have been between us,
For the roses lost their petals long ago
I can no longer feel their thorns, my toughened skin
Yet lately when I turn to cry for you,
The pain is far greater than I should bear
For (you) seep, from my tear ducts, a bloodless water driblet
Injury that keeps finding its way out
Purging the likes of you
In twin tissues

III

Infuriates me.
Each night from my pillow writhed
Come darkened silhouettes of your pigtails
I inhale one, in each nostril,
just so I can blow you away
Are you a sister of another mister?
My tormenter, my thumb umbrella
Cleanse me from your sticky sight
Allow my legs to find that gentle breeze called freedom
Before the very bone that we share dies
Making us look upon our mirrors
To find the frozen cordial face
As we pretend to plant, a history, of fond remembrance
When we are but plowing, our indignations in the ground

IV

Unbeknownst
I knew a time when my sister, tall and fair,
Sat braiding her curly brown hair
Finding me sleeping, without nary a sound
Wrapped her tight braid, around and around
Laughing as my life was slipped from sight
Dragging me constantly, round that night
So what if I, but a babe in skin
Was found by Dad, in the playpen
Hence, since, even now, my skin, crawls
Afraid of the hair in red overalls

The Barred Spiral

Tilted nipple, lend
Your acquiescent ballast
To rotate earths breast

Fritterbatter

No one is more famous than Allo Wishis
Who, with his bat, broke all 108 stitches
Exposing a yarn ball, the leather fell fast
Causing the fans, to rise, with a gasp

Back in a corner lot, below Hamby Square
Was a sixteen year old pitcher, Billy Baer
Had a bad habit, of breaking wind
Because of the force, he’d put on his spin

He’d raise his knee, to meet his chest
Then split the distance, with leg abreast
Stepping off, to shoot the curve,
as the ball would fire, from Billy’s nerve

Up then down, he’d send them all back
To the dugout they flew, every inning in fact
Till at last as the sky, turned dark royal blue
From out of the dugout, he came, tapping his shoe

Score was tied, with one more strike to throw
It was Allo Wishis, who succeeded a blow
Breaking the pitch, and ball with ease
Bringing the pitcher, right down to his knees

Up on the shoulders, of everyone there
Rode Allo Wishis, and Billy Baer
Three hours after, everyone had gone home
They received a call, that the ball, was a scone

Seems that the bakers son, went home to eat
Taking his ball, and leaving the treat
But that didn’t matter, a ball or a tart
They play again tomorrow, well, at least until dark

I Think That I Shall Never See...

.A
                                                               Single
                                                             Sequoia
                                                           Firm and tall
                                                         Feeds on the love
                                                          And kindnesses
                                                  Of other nature lovers
                                                Was supported, cultivated
Becoming a tower against the horizon
Waxing green leaves, which it deposits later as gifts,
Among the earth dwellers, it embraced all under its canopy
Time passed and with it grew wisdom and purity of thought
Soon; sweet songs were sung by the tree dwellers, nourishing it abundantly
It was fruitful in return, gladly sharing all its color and splendor with other nature
Suddenly an alto fell in with the soprano pitched songbirds, distracting it immensely
The alto pecked, vibrating the core, with its obsidian bill, drilling, forever drumming,
Night and day, night and day, a steady pecking, of a woodpecker
Singing in a foreign soup song language
                                                          Not caring
                                                         Whatsoever
                                                       That it drained
                                                       The tree’s spirit
                                                      Trying to shoo it,
                                                    The tree branched.
                                                    Feverishly it tossed,
                                                   Left to right, beating.
                                                   Dropping all its fauna
                                                   Onto the forest floor.

Cold snap breaks time clocks
Freshly powdered hillsides reign

Zig-Zag

Reverse this polarity, my hormonal engine
Playing my body like a baby grand
Rough and rugged, Jerry Lee Lewis
Succumbs to Louis Armstrong in Platinum
Blues verses boogy woogy
An invariable blender, shaken not stirred
Keeping me up nights
Tapping my toes to the teardrops
