I Do

A wedding is about the bride and groom
So why does everyone jump to assume
That they're opinions means the bible
It's mothers and daughters that create this vicious cycle

Moms want to throw their daughter the best day ever
They're reluctant to think their dreams aren't the brides endeavor
Its one day in life
With all strings attached
My energy sure feels the bite

No matter how hard you try,
People flake or become insane
You begin to wonder, why?

Then Eloping doesn't sound so mad
All that matters is the bride walks down the isle with the dad
The groom takes her hand
A strong love is witnessed and spread across the land.

Daughters keep your head and will strong
It's about you and the groom,
That's where the power belongs
Don't let other steal your focus
The moment you say “no”
Treasured friendships may become bogus

Everyone else, keep your mouth shut
Wish there was a nicer way to say this,
I'll just be blunt
Doesn't matter what you think or do
For once in your life,
This day isn't about you!

I Smile and Frown When

I smile when-
Woman has strange men over
You laugh and mind business
Married to your ******* neighbor

I frown when-
Man wants medicine for kid,
Clinic shut down,
Alcohol delivered a government payout

Shattered Girl

You shattered my world
I was a sweet innocent girl
Thought my future was solid gold
Then you flushed my heart bitter cold
Went from a flow chart to a volcanic eruption
Minutes, days, weeks, it'll eventually even out.
One mans laziness caused another mans corruption

When foundation crumbles
You constantly stumble
Balancing on floating ice
Pray for a solid double on those dice
Teased a lot by a half roll,
There's just so much I can't control

There's nothing more powerful than not being scared
Skepticism I've grown close to, a friendship hard to bear
Think of a million possibilities with each choice
There's always going to be that internal voice
Why make it so hard?
One mans laziness is another mans corruption
That someone else will take care of me,
I'll never jump to that assumption

Gets harder and harder,
Then easier and easier
Harder and harder
Then easier and easier

All that matters is how I spend my time now
What I do now will help my future somehow
Where will I be in five years?
Have no idea
Asked me that a lot when I was younger,
Always had an answer
But back then
I was just a kid

Love, what's love your asked?
You lectured so many times
I'll put it on repeat along side a laugh track
Love is opposite you
It's opposite everything you do
Trying to deal with real love
That's truly far and above
Anything you can comprehend.

You taught me the greatest in life
Concentrate on the good,
Keep your head up with pride
Conquer the madness by ignoring it
Do positive things to destroy it

No Time For Talk

Moments I feel weak
I work and work
Feel so busy it's hard to speak
Everywhere I turn
Feels like a block
I've got to do, no time for talk
But at the end of the day
There's an ache in my chest
There's so much time I was to invest
In better causes but this is where I'm left
Broke down by some stooge dressed in an Structure vest
I want to beat you so bad, I'll find a way
I don't give up that easy, just wont be today
There's room in this world for honest business
It's what my grandpa believed in,
That honorable feeling never goes out of season

I'll wake up one day
Walls will shatter like glass
I'll get up and everything will be in grasp
I'll have good workers that get paid well
Mothers can allow their kids out of their shell
They can raise them at home instead of a daycare
Way better than the present which sometimes is more than I can bear.

Yeah Right

I loved you
I hate you

The picture and Sees candy I gave you for Christmas
Me there you smiled and accepted with gratitude
Me not around, she put her two cents in,
You got on stage and dissed it

It had been a wonderful night
I pick up the phone
We intended to meet for dinner
Quickly found out you did a shitty job of picking a winner
You tell me your girl doesn't want me in your home
I'm your daughter, your princess, not a bar fly
Jealousy is such a wicked and ugly color
The darkest sound and tone
Finding out your father has a wobbly backbone

Your girl yelled at me on the phone,
Accused me of names,
Cast me from her Casa of Eden
You see two cats fighting
For you it's a stroke to the ego, makes you more vein.

Asked you to therapy,
Man...that was deep
Yeah right! Got no where with you
Felt like one person trying to know down the Berlin wall
What are you a deer in the headlights?
If I can admit wrong so should you
It's not all on me as you would want me to believe is true

Thought this is a challenge in life you gotta play out
One day I opened my eye,
Staring at the ceiling I realized
I'd gone to buy a card for you,
All the loving writes
Nothing related to you baby
Something was wrong

You were wrong for treating me bad
I was wrong for accepting
No more..no more
Hit the road dad..and dont you come back no more

Wish I Was Your Addiction

Wish I was your addiction,
Upon a star non fiction,
never ending hole so deep,
Life would seem more complete

If you'd wake up,
crack open my bedroom door,
To think you'd been dreaming about me,
God gave you everything you need and more,
What Id give to feel those arms hug me,
genuinely, honestly, no love withholding

If I was your vice,
I would be the answer to your stress,
Of all else you try,
I'd always bring out the best,
You'd spend time with me ,
defend me to the end,
You'd be incredibly loyal,
I'd consider you my best friend

No recovery program could treat,
the connection we'd share no one could defeat,
You'd need to see my all the time,
reminders of me everywhere, your life would be a shrine,

Wish I was your addiction,
Upon a star non fiction
never ending hole so deep,
Life would seem more complete

Daddy Issues

World is full of witches
I'd love to write on them with stitches
Would you like to talk about your daddy issues,
I got time, lets break out some tissues

You say you want honesty
Your reaction while receiving is deceiving

Your say you and your man share many loving moods
Why am I sitting at a bar watching you hit on another dude
Yours is at home, if he knew he'd regret
Waiting for you in front of your television set

When you come home tossed
He'll make you food while you feel lost
You know you should give yourself to him
Your denying him the right to get in

You want him to beg for you
Just keep doing what you chose
Your love soon enough will be dismissed
He wont be around to kiss.

Happens with one man, ok
Happens with the second man..eh
Happens with the third man, yikes
Maybe a therapist in your future isn't out of sight

No Electronics

What to do with no cell phone or computer for a day....
Sit at home, be bummed how things didn't go your way?
Or go outside and play like it's your last day?

What to do with no cell phone or computer for a week...
Would you keep up with friends and family?
Or stay home and play solitaire, indulge in your inner geek?

What to do with no cell phone or computer for a month...
Get in less car accidents
Have better relationships,
Gain patience,
Keep plans with those you love,
Have fewer bills,
Buy a phone book,
Buy a Camera,
Buy a CD player,
Be more creative,

Minus the styles,
If I could turn back time to the 80s,
I'd make efficiency experts eat their own greed gravy,
How much sweeter life would be.

Entrepreneur At Heart

Hundreds of hours for a moments exposure,
When so many doubt you passion lifts helps composure,

Make sure shop looks fit,
nice and neat,
Bottles straight,
service cant be beat

Customers walk in
always greeted with JOY
Go the extra mile
No strings attached or extra ploys,

40 hour workweek?
Haha, that's for wimps,
Following a dream makes happiness,
That's a hard concept to grip

Financial stability,
At some point it hits,
The Pros always manage,
They tread along with the grit
