Trails of Sunlight

The wonder of the dawning sun
Is majestic to behold
Ribbons surrounding trees and cliffs
In tones of flame and gold

Here, dazzling beams illuminate
A passage through the sea
Coloring the radiant crest
In warm serenity

A gentle time to plead for hope
As quickly fades its light
Where etched silhouettes blend and merge
Enkindling rise of night.

Forever

I desire nothing from you

just let me watch you wake with the sun

laugh with the rustle of the wind

that messes your auburn hair

that, my dear little one,

is enough to take me through

the years. And the memory

of all this combined shall take

me far through forever---

After you have gone riding on a star.

Home Run

The sweat pours down from
tank tops and t-shirts,
preposterously loud screams explode
on the baseball field around them.
Drink it all in for a win that's more
than a glory of the game
by those who long for excitement
and the possibility of league's trophy.

The raucous crowd of spring flock together
their arms flinging outrageous signals ,
with high pitched hurrah, as bats fly off
to gaily rattle, “Oh, my! Go get 'em!”
when men become boys of spring's home-run!

Gush of Wind

gush of wind passing
as leaves open frazzled reams--
for promise of rain

Bench In the Park

How I wish I could have clung to musings
on this bench in a park; the same wooden one
which cradled my afternoons, feeding little birds
as memories gripped the heart--
The sharp sting of her farewell, right on this spot
drowned time's hands of fate--- that now,
I hold the seat's arms limply, if only to recall
how my fingers twined buds in her hair. All gone.

In a Freeze

frozen twigs roll on chilled aisle
barren trees now elderly,
exposing a season's lash---
indignant Jack Frost

Bleeding Profile

Sunset dips from a bay’s view

Its pulp so tangerine clear--

Releasing a minty froth.

As her crown bleeds on water

I watch a hazy profile--

A faded memory now

Tearing my chilling nightfall.

Center of My Head

center of my head
opens like spring flower---
in meditation

From a Distance

Waterfalls cascade down mountaintops
Huddling stones gathering fine crop
A pastoral reel where man can't drop
Just watching the view from eye's knobs

Noontime

the glare of noontime
scorches young August petals
rain taps on wild blooms---
and summer cools her flamed heat
to gently fondle morn’s dew
