7 Words Expressing Love

Two hearts,
One beat.
Forever overcoming
defeat.

Scars Left Behind

Story of a boy.....

I was to go to bed at 8 that night
When there was firing at the door,
Heard mom gasp,"God save my son."
I had no idea of what was in store.
We ran to the basement and shut it tight,
Mom pointed to the passage where dad hauls in wood
Sternly commanded me to go
While still as stone there she stood.
The sinners banged the door hard,
Through the passage there was just room for me to fit
So I sat down and shook my head,
There was no way that on my mother I'd quit.
She looked at me in the eye and gave me a kiss
And said,"Darling please listen to me,
I love you so very much
As fast as you can, do get to daddy."
'I'll get Dad' I thought and started to crawl,
I had to hurry, the door had almost gave way too
Noticed a sharp thing in the way and stopped,
But mom, in haste pushed me through.
I yelped in pain as iron cut my arm,
But what hurt me more was the door falling with a 'thud'.
Scars on my soul left me nightmares for years to come
Mom's cries and final scream echoing as I ran in the mud.
Fifteen years later, in the same but better town,
I show my arm to my wife and say
"If not for these scars I was left with
I would be with mom today."

Finish the Verse

Roses are red,
violets are blue,
But I prefer a purple pansy
When I reminisce over you.

The Little Girl :Between Nightmares and Dreams

Everyday she walks more than a mile,
Through the woods to live her dream for a while.
With friends, to enjoy, to play,
After school, longer her stay.
When she starts towards home, she loses her smile.

She walks on a path she has always known,
Still it seemed a nightmare, all alone.
Though Scared of what would befall,
Went on ahead,after all
She clutched in her hand , a sacred stone.

Clouded skies,everything seems a blur,
But beyond the field is a light, no err.
An end to tonight's worries,
To dream on mom's lap, hurries
Who is at the window, waiting for her.

Skeleton Tree

Kids beneath it played
Home to birds and animals,
Proud and happy,stood.

Years passed by and by,
Lost its leaves and happiness,
It grew old and cold.

Lonely,abandoned,
Hurt by the name it is called-
A skeleton tree..

Mountain-River

Sunshine helps melt snow,
On the tall, busy mountain
That's guiding her son.

Sensing victory,
After a long, hard journey
River joins the sea.

The river's mother-
Mountain is proud and glad that
Her son reached his goal.

The Vacation - Part 1 of 7

I'm discharged from the hospital up and well
And to the world about the incident I begin to tell.....

PART 1

Last week on a cruise we had set on a vacation,
Jake and I for our anniversary celebration,
On which day the destination we had to reach
Was a holiday resort aside the beach.

That morning I sing and awaken him,
Create special anniversary moments on film.
What disturbed us was the knock on the door
Opened it not knowing what was in store.

Masked men barged in with guns and knives,
For a moment we couldn't believe my eyes.
Jake tried to defend me,I stood scared in fright,
And within no time they had held us tight.

They were soon getting us off,one by one
On some deserted island with no where to run.
How to get away? There was no clue.
Only God could help for our rescue.

I had thought this to be a day we'd cherish forever,
Never expected it to be filled with terror.
Why had I planned for this vacation ?Why
Tears rolling down,I began to cry.

I hugged Jake and said that I was sorry,
We were in this mess all because of me.
He consoled me, wiped my tear
And said that we'd get through this, no need to fear.

TO BE CONTINUED.........

The Masked Man's Quest

Through the glistening sunshine, he rode, the masked man,
His face dissembled, but held high in pride.
No one would dare ask what his name or history was,
Neither did someone know what beneath the mask, lied.
For what they knew he was the greatest warrior of the king,
Presumed humility and kindness to the people,
A true fighter in defending the truth,
Instances to prove his courage were inestimable.

He got down aside a patch of plenteous roses to pluck one,
The one which appeared special, with a fragrance to invigorate,
As he was on a quest, to find his soul mate.
This town he was going to was the last in the kingdom, Rubek.
Though the maidens in the kingdom were beautiful, no doubt.
His search in the previous towns had went in vein.
Though he was honored and renowned,
Scared of how his face might be they did refrain.

While he was on his way, Rubek had got the news
Maidens gathered-“What if he looks like a devil’s son.”
“His face would’ve been burnt, scraped during war.”
“I can’t marry him”, they cried in unison.
The masked man arrived, stopped right in front of them,
But when he asked for marriage they all had their heads bent low.
He discerned their answer for silence prolonged,
Sadness concealed under his mask, he rose to go.

Then one of them came forth from the crowd,
Observing her beauty and grace for a second he froze,
She said-“I’d consider myself fortunate to have a companion like you.”
Within no time he knelt, gave her the rose,
And then he threw up his mask for all to see.
Some maidens fainted, others cried in distress,
The masked man turned out to be the charming prince
Who took her hand and declared, “She will be my princess.”

A Guy and Girl

Note:A Guy and girl's feelings are expressed in alternate stanzas

Guy: Although there's nothing less in the life of mine,
Today a girl I've thought to join.
She's too valuable to me,more than a jewel,
I'm going to tell her today that she's my angel.

Girl: Although everything I want is by my side,
My love for him I cannot hide.
This to him I want to say,
And I might as well just do today.

Spike my hair, put on my shoe,
       Wear her favorite color blue.
       Looking cool,there is no doubt,
Grab my keys and go out.

Put on my lens, comb my hair,
Mess of the room on deciding what to wear.
Look myself in the mirror, blush
Already late, leave in a rush..

       Reach college, at the gate,
But for her where shall I wait?
As far as I know, I've seen,
That she first heads towards canteen.

       Arrive at college,step in
But there is no trace of him.
Moving towards canteen, hope there he'll be
       Probably waiting just for me..

       Sitting here, in a trance
To tell her my feelings this is my chance.
Thought of my lines once more,
And sat, eyes fixed to the door.

I enter, him waiting I could find,
Joined him, shared what's on my mind.
Found out that I wasn't wrong,
He too loved me all along ..

Overhear her talks with the other guy,
"She loves him not me", I sadly sigh.
I leave, convincing myself to not regret
As in life everything doesn't turn out as we expect.

A Guy's Excuse For Missing a Date

A guy to his girlfriend on phone-

"I love you,you do too,
But now I also love someone else.
She doesn't fritter my money, shout, cry like you,
She's dark,beautiful,an enchantress.

She invigorated my spirits,mesmerized me,
I didn't even realize when the sun sunk.
We'll postpone our date of tonight,I can't drive now,
'Cause baby,I'm drunk!"
