Laura Wilmot Poem
When life seems like a puzzle, but the pieces don’t fit,
It seems next to impossible to do anything but quit.
Your options are limited, and time runs too short;
Every decision made felt like a last resort.
You’re feeling trapped, about to suffocate;
Life’s placed way too much on your micro-sized plate.
But don’t lose heart, because all’s not lost;
You’ll learn something new from every road you’ve crossed.
You will only get stronger from the struggles you endure,
And the mistakes along the way are just a scenic detour.
So keep your chin up, and smile through the pain;
The grass always gets greener, from every drop of rain.

Laura Wilmot Poem
Lord, each time we know you just a little bit more,
We can see just how different we are now, than before.
Stir up a passion within us, one which never dies,
A desire to be more like you; in our hearts your spirit lies.
Open up our eyes, so we can see so very clear,
The path you've made just for us, and held so very dear.
Build us up to be leaders in this fallen land,
To help guide those who are lost, and offer them a hand.
Help purify our hearts, and make us white as snow,
So we can lead by example, planting seeds that will grow...
Into something so amazing, beautiful and divine,
It could only come from you; you've made us shine.
You're a light in the darkness, and always break through,
For you hold the only power that stands strong and true.
Of all the people on the earth, it was us you chose,
To display your amazing power, so everyone knows:
There are none who can compare to you, not even one;
You've given us this power, which only comes through your son.
But your power is not limited to just you and me;
You've instructed us to share the word with everyone we see.
Give us the boldness we need, and let us be unashamed,
To share the news of your great love, till every soul is claimed.

Laura Wilmot Poem
Oh say can you see,
Not your ordinary letter from me.
You might enjoy a parade and some fireworks too,
Just to remember the red, white, and blue.
Or sing the national anthem before your favorite quarterback kicks,
To honor the freedom we've had since 1776.
But this year I propose, a brand new tradition,
Not something you’d likely hear from a politician.
Since we're already together, united as one,
I thought we could remember there's still work to be done!
For so many countries still need a hand,
To have freedom like we have here in our land.
Many have no rights like freedom of speech; out of fear they will refrain.
Without money for food or a place to sleep, in chains they will remain.
They don't have the option of an unemployment check,
If the father's out of work, then it's all hands on deck.
The kids aren't really worried about college applications in the fall;
They're just hoping for the day that they could go to school at all.
So I'm only going to ask that you do this one thing:
Be a voice for the voiceless, and truly honor our king.
Because it wasn't just Jefferson who made this a land of liberty,
But it was really Jesus Christ who truly set us free.
So let's all take a stand, from sea to shining sea,
And watch together as we change our very own history.
But wait! There's one more thing left to say,
Happy Independence Day!

Laura Wilmot Poem
You tell me you've been hurt, in more ways than one,
But don't condemn or punish me, for things I haven't done.
Give me all of you, and not just a part;
Allow me the chance to heal your once broken heart.
In this whole world of people, you picked me from the crowd;
Only you can tell me why, so why not say it out loud?
Tell me every day that I'm beautiful, and why you care;
Say that when you see me, you can't help but stare.
I'm on the love boat, but are you on board?
Another broken heart, I just cannot afford.
So when we're apart, tell me you miss me so;
If you could change the past, you'd never have let me go.
I feel like I'm giving more than I receive;
Saying that you love me, is just too hard to believe.
Tell me without words, that your love for me is real;
It's what you do that matters, so show me how you feel.
Don't hesitate, or keep holding back your tongue;
There's nothing worse than a song that's been left unsung.
So tell me what I mean to you, show me true romance;
Tomorrow's no guarantee, and you could miss your chance.

Laura Wilmot Poem
When friends say things that seem pretty curt,
Chances are high that feelings will be hurt.
It doesn't really matter who's wrong or right;
Either way it sure does seem to bite.
Big fight or little, there's sure to be pain;
In the end, you still have something to gain...
Because no one's perfect, and we all make mistakes;
A true friend works through the problem, whatever it takes.
So bite your tongue, maybe add another vowel;
Give your friends a chance, before throwing in the towel.
It's hard at first, but we've got to forgive,
Because living with hate, is no way to live.
I bet they will remember what you do;
When the tables are flipped, they'll be forgiving you!

Laura Wilmot Poem
On Sunday night you came to my home;
I welcomed you in, with a warm “Shalom”.
I cooked you a meal of Chicken Pad Thai;
You said you loved it, and you wouldn’t lie.
We told some good stories, and shared delicious wine;
To tell you the truth, it was perfectly divine.
We began our marathon of The Walking Dead,
Cuddled up close; your arm behind my head.
In the morning I felt so truly blessed,
When you grabbed a skillet, and made me breakfast!
You fried up some eggs, and made custom Chai Tea;
We curled up together, and watched a movie.
Even though it was hard, the time had come;
You had to get back to the place you were from.
Your sweet bear-hug concluded this perfect day,
As you told me, “Next time you should come my way.”

Laura Wilmot Poem
Don't let your day be ruined by one moody person's curse;
Giving them that power, will only make it worse.
The best revenge that you can have, (this is good advice)
Is to flash them with your pearly whites, and just be extra nice!
We just don't know the challenges a person's going through;
Maybe they had a terrible day, and took it out on you!
Either way, it's irrelevant; yesterday's already past.
A brand new day means a brand new start, and it won't be your last!
So chin up now, and stand up tall, in case your paths do cross,
But this time will be different; you'll show them who's the boss!
Focus on the good things, and forget about the bad;
You never know, it just might be, the best day you've ever had!

Laura Wilmot Poem
Tears of pain stream down my face.
I want to hide, but can’t find a place.
My heart aches, as if broken in two;
It’s hard to fix without any glue.
I feel cold inside, but my face is hot.
I don’t know what I should feel, or what I should not.
My emotions seem to mimic a rollercoaster ride:
Up, then down, and all over the place; I really can’t decide.
If he feels the same, as I in my heart,
Then how could it make sense that we’d be apart?
I can’t be upset with him, as he’s done nothing wrong,
But I still feel betrayed, like I should have known all along.
You see, he didn’t play games, and was respectful to boot.
He sought the Lord’s permission to go on his pursuit.
He began to fast, and continued to pray,
But the Lord said, “No. You’ll find your wife another day.”
So now we’re both here expected to trust,
That what was thought to be love, had really been lust.
I’m confused why it’s this relationship that God won’t allow,
But I’m relying on my faith in God, even though I don’t understand now.
Whether the timing’s just wrong, or he wasn’t the one,
It wasn’t all for nothing; one day I’ll know why it was done.
I realize that something was still gained; this is not the end.
For out of it I have still found a true and lifelong friend.
Only God knows if this will change someday but, that’s just fine,
Because the man God created just for me will one day become mine!

Laura Wilmot Poem
Love is a garden, needing time and care;
A delicate flower, both beautiful and rare.
Love pays attention to details, both big and small;
The simple things you notice, others may not recall.
Love is a moment that takes your breath away;
You try but, cannot seem to find, a single word to say.
Love is like honey, so very pure and sweet;
One touch of your lips to mine, is like a gourmet treat.
Love does not see fault, or a need for correction;
Your eyes can no longer see a single imperfection.
Love is honest and true, and gives no reason to hide;
Allowing two hearts to open up, revealing what's inside.
Love is like a hug that you never want to end;
Even a broken heart, a hug can surely mend.
Love is like a dance, taking each step together;
Gliding along the floor, as if you're light as a feather.
Love is a memory, and cannot be lost or taken;
Unlike a dream, which fades away once you awaken.
Love is what makes you laugh, till your insides are sore;
The silly things you say can send you rolling on the floor.
Love comes unexpectedly, hitting you hard and fast;
It turns your world upside-down, leaving behind your past.
Love is an opportunity you do not want to miss;
You just might experience complete and utter bliss.
You still may not be ready to give love a try,
But be sure not to wait too long, or love may pass you by!
