Unexpected Or Unwanted

Unexpected or Unwanted

There arrival were always unexpected
With a string of curses never too far behind,
From the host, feeling particularly dejected,
Yet who’s always been able to have them wined,
And out the door without feeling affected.

With all that said they were quite kind,
Just chatty,
Simply put, they said anything in their mind,
Even so, they were never ratty,
But sometimes they were quite opined.

There visits were always quick,
They came, they laughed, they left,
And when they finally left it appeared to some as a trick,
Yet, alas, they were not that deft,
For something quite so sick.

The conversations were always filled with the same useless chatter,
Filled with their bottomless fake promises,
Where they reminisced on the days that we’re better,
Without ever asking themselves what that accomplishes,
And before you’re able to say see you next time they scatter.

Past Feelings

He lives forever in my mind,
For what he is I’m blind,
Yet when he scratches the back of his head,
My heart pled,
This mundane moment,
Was to me an important bestowment,
Because it means he exists,
And I’m no longer a fantasists.

Window to the Soul

I lie in bed,
With dread,
Accomplished nothing,
My future is aching.

Wasting away my youth,
This being my gospel truth,
A tale as old as time,
I’ve squandered my prime.

Lack the will and the wit,
To do it,
I need to get a grip,
Before I slip.

Instead, I consume,
Consume,
Consume,
Consume.

My eyes hurt.

New World

New World

Reborn here now without baggage,
By cause of a future passage,
That has thus far been forgotten,
Gone as if a bad illusion.

Reborn here now without baggage,
They regard me as a savage,
Despite us having the same home,
Where we lived a lifetime alone.

Reborn here now without baggage,
I struggle with lack of knowledge,
Against this world I do not know,
With the people who seem to glow.

Reborn here now without baggage,
A new life I can envisage,
Where myself will remain alive,
For all the ones who couldn’t survive.

It’ll never be

He reads Al Jazeera,
I read BBC.

We don’t see.

Rainy Mornings

I read but my mind is already occupied,
And so in the subway I ride,
I don’t check the time,
Afraid because it’s not mine.

I leave the subway,
It’s drizzling,
The pavement in return starts glistening.

I think I can make it,
I can’t,
It pours,
I wish I was indoors.

I seek safety underneath a tree full of holes,
There I linger,
Hoping the owners won’t give me the finger.

A runner passes me, she looks so carefree,
I smile, she smiles, I stay, she goes,
I need to go,
I’m going to be late.

It’s still pouring,
I still don’t check the time,
I leave the tree full of holes,
Wishing the clouds had bowls.

I walk with speed,
Seizing the blocks with greed,
I get inside, soaked,
Yet carefree.

I’m not late,
Yet I’m in pieces,
Because the rain ceases.

More

My heart aches for something more,
I long when I wake up,
I need to shape-up,
This feeling has been so prominent,
That I no longer remember why more remains dominant.
