Kate Meyer Poem
Nail my heart to the wall while your at it
It’s not working quite right after your anti confession
It’s okay though cause I don’t really want it
Forgotten in the veins were my bits of hope
Glimmering in a red moon and oozing alone
I’ll walk like a confidence man
With my hands behind my back
Hiding the small beating creature inside
It’s okay, you don’t need to see it
Relentlessly pounding to catch up
Sticking with the tick of the time
Young vulnerable flesh has grown
Taken the place of a seething hole
A heart that was marked invalid
Marred from failure
Shrunk 3 sizes in fear

Kate Meyer Poem
My hands aren’t strong enough
To hold my heavy heart anymore
And the tears that drip down my cheeks
Are staining my skin
Everyone can see what happened last night
Through my chest my heart’s exposed
And no one will spare me
They can see the shadow lurking beneath me
Wanting to swallow me whole
And I’ll drop into that deep doom
Where nothing can pry me
From the grasp on my ankles
And I think I’ve cried enough
To fill all the lungs
And drown the world
In an ocean of despair
