A pen is more than just a pen;
more than just a recording device.
When I pick up a pen
I take a journey
to another realm
and to many realms,
I’ve been.
I have many pens,
I collect them;
pens for writing
pens for drawing
pens for hole punching
and pens for adventuring.
Today, I am penning poetry;
tomorrow I will give
personality to my eggs
with a felt-tip pen
that I use for sketching.
Whenever I pick up a pen
I wield a magical wand;
I can conjure dragons
or chimera and
about them,
write a poem or song.
I can wield a magic sword
to slay the creatures
that I create;
such as monsters,
trolls or wyverns
and I succeed
every time.
I can create words and art
to make you sad or glad;
to make you smile or laugh
‘tho you find that
you’ve been had!
My cat loves pens too,
it’s why mine may disappear
and not be seen for months on end
if my cat, they’re near.
So, you see a pen’s not
just a pen; it’s a part of me.
I’d hate to be without one;
I probably couldn’t think!
Dragons are so misunderstood; often because of their evil cousins, Wyverns. Wyverns pull all sorts of schemes; they love eating humans, as well as, other animal species, they also enjoy the art of destruction and create loads of chaos and frustration. Dragons, way more passive and quite talented in many ways love and are fascinated by all things human; they easily learn from humans and despite their size prefer living among humans. Dragons easily fit in like cats and dogs.
Dragons are passive
Creatures in themselves, who give
Humans their great strengths.
Flailing tendrils upon the waves;
an ancient sailor’s fear;
Leviathan rises from the watery abyss.
Red morning skies warn,
of Neptune’s wrath;
his siren daughters,
captivate and destroy the lonely seamen.
Skeletal wings beat the empty air;
foreboding shadows overhead;
the Wyvern, hunting prey.
Old legends never die;
they just shape shift,
to fit the times.
Oily, black tendrils swirl upwards,
from the ocean floor,
to poison and eradicate,
thousands of species.
Leviathan-slicks;
annihilating the oceans.
Modern day Wyverns sail the techno-skies;
drones seeking prey, who take all lives;
intentional and accidental;
no one is exempt from their appetites.
Red skies in the morning;
HAARP’s song of warning;
red tides obliterate life.
Old legends in new guises,
are easy, lethal deceit.
