or wordcraft
There’s times
you must choose
The style
or substance
Which one
left askew
One choice
or the other
Becomes
zero-sum
Delivering
prescience
If words
—on the run

Thrill telling tale
Spread slumber's sale
Seek sparkling sights
Browse blossoms bright
Choose charming cheer
Nurture nice near
Live lovely lines
Meet moments mine
Wise words work worth
Bright blessings birth
Verse vivid voice
Ply pleasant poise
Glimpse glowing grace
Thrill touching trace
Treasure tough times
Reap rapture's rhymes
Dust dazzling dream
Trust telling theme
Play primes pure peace
Ends enact ease

Whisper a name,
Offer to sing;
Rise beyond fame,
Deduce fine things;
Come fling and hurl,
Raise words that string;
Attend wise swirls,
Free lasting spring;
Taste love that lives.
Surprise firms joy;
Invest and give,
Glimpse wise employ;
Now be mindful,
See poignant pool.

There once was a poet who despaired
though blessed with a fair amount of flair
that he was way too thick
to master limericks
counting words an arduous affair
Limerick-writing he'd master not
count sillybulls, meter and whatnot
the elusive punchline's
too troublesome to find
with his thoughts roughly tied up in knots
Spatial dimension impediment
a meter doubled in measurement
at the best of times three
lopsided prosody
shoddy despite its being eloquent
Sillybulls ignored and miscounted
charge around angrily, discounted
with their hoofs on the slam
they step up the bedlam
bewildering chaos uncounted
With pep talks and deliberation
resolved: they're too high 'bove my station
so to rhyme he should stick
and give up limericks
where wordcraft counts naught but summation
*Sillybulls = syllables. My thanks to Ephraim Crud for the loan of the word.
