In memory of the many miles we spent together, on two wheels, on the road.
Cruising Forward
By Franklin Price
1/28/2022
As I am moving forward
You're still with me on the ride
We're cruising down the highway
On our Harleys side by side
The wind is blowing through your hair
Sun has tanned your lovely face
In leathers red, you pull ahead
To prepare for me a place
The fringes on your coat and chaps
Are waving in the air
You look back, and smile at me
I still know you really care
Your hand twists on the throttle
As you shift a higher gear
My eyes are dampened by the breeze
As you quickly disappear
Then I hear a noise behind me
It's the rumble of your bike
You fall in right beside me
In the place that we both like
Your spirit still rides with me
Though you're with God in the sky
The road ahead is waiting
“See you later, not goodbye”
That summer day in 'fifty eight
when providence found me a mate
Neither of us knew then, what was then to be
from passion, love, was brought forth from me
Attraction's magnet drew us together
nothing, was ever, our love to sever
In memory that day still glows bright
she, remains, that same first love in my sight
Still, she is my beautiful valentine
her constant love stays mine..mine..mine
On the lush green lawns by river Avon,
deep in thought,I was leaning on a tree,
golden sun rays spraying paint over town,
When my eyes caught a boatman sail past me.
Water rippled and splashed about his oar,
he stroked Avon in rhythm to a song,
His ballads of love from the days of yore,
I watched him weaving his old craft along.
stretch of meadow with many in leisure,
Families with children, vendors with stall,
Dogs playing fetch to little tot’s pleasure,
good summer day to relish, ere night fall.
A lone white swan followed the boatman’s ride,
Soulful number it must have heard before,
Ducklings quacked rushing to their mother’s side,
Swiftly she winged them close to reassure.
Her laughter, her voice, echo in my heart,
I stand alone where she once held my arm,
memories console, what time tore apart,
Pebbles of thoughts, bring an ocean of calm.
Only time may heal and time may restore,
For now everyday is so hard to take,
In memory she lives who lives no more,
Love for some is a such a sweet heartache!
A gorge cut deep, the river pain,
recall a life, with some refrain.
Memories lapse to shallow breaths,
burdened by your wrongful death.
Life anew, infertile fields,
for happiness, no crop shall yield.
I miss you so, just everyday,
how life as cast, a tragic play!
In memory of my wife, Avis.

In The Repetition Of A Kiss
When I leave the house to follow traffic patterns
Tie and suitcase in my hand
Running through the door to find rush hour
I buy and sell gold bullion for a living
On the grand piano, the one my wife and I can’t play
I leave a hurried message
“My dear, I’ll be back soon.” “I love you so.”
“Please have the help clean the piano.”
“The one that you and I can’t play.”
“But if I make it rich, you and I can get some lessons.”
“We’ll play an Oratorio. Opera or an Anthem
Or perhaps a symphony or two one day.”
In between each number we will practice kissing
In the end, if we learn nothing, on this instrument
Our hearts and lips will follow every note in memory
In the repetition of a kiss
I leave you a kiss.
As always, I will miss you
In the repetition of a kiss

Still YOU can hear the Sobbing, Throbbing, Heartbeat of A Broken Heart
YOU can feel Her Sorrow, Swallow Sadness, flowing : the contour of Her Face
The Tears in Her Eyes, Sighs of Suffering Alone Now; Yet NEVER APART
She Walks the Rainbow, Below the Gates of Heaven, HER FOREVER enters Grace
Inspired by “ Anne Rutherford “
Dedicated in Memory of HER FOREVER and ALWAYS ; “ HUSBAND “
The lady waited in this place
With heart of pure intention
Remembering another face
Too long ago to mention
Lingering on this point in time
She danced with him once more
For all the memories sublime
That's what she came here for
They'd held each other oh so close
Until the night grew pale
He'd given her a single rose
She'd lifted up her veil
In memory she makes sure of
Not slipping down too far
What's the point ,for pure love
Has put you where you are
And so she thinks about that girl
Who beamed like a sunray
When her darling took her for a whirl
Back on her wedding day

Your gaze,
turns me on,
your lips,
creates a bond,
your tongue,
in me they've gone,
without you,
my nights,
they mourn,
being by you,
my passion,
they're born,
awake through the night,
waking at dawn,
seeing your sleepy face,
when you wake up and yawn,
my hubby,
to you i warn,
our honeymoon this is,
will forever be in memory,
even if,
in life,
there's a thorn. . . . .
