Premium Memberbird in the hand

delightful what a dazzlement brings …

what others deem prepost’rous things -

so burled and brown and bound with strings

hark - how sweet this waxwing sings …

          oh hark - how sweet!

Premium MemberSomewhere Grey Fall

Damp leafs random toss by autumn gust,
hue stain bold foliage unfurls,
brown, golden amber, red-orange curls,
into town or country setting thrust

Thin laid ice chill air must plummet,
taut azure sky wing creatures flourish,
palm warbler, barred owl, cedar waxwing perish,
orchard fall strain on moss clad branch summit

Stout heart trudge on rust decay meander,
pockmark mud stone surface brittle,
black cloud grain spice wind counts for little,
to pale mute green paddock’s wry candour

Daylight glow cold shoulders summer tint,
tan quartz beach once boisterous ghost town silent,
August lakeshore swarm a breed less vibrant,
weathervane gloom monger’s doleful hint

Beaver moon plunge or peak as lunar auspice,
outcrop toiler’s eggplant harvest purple struck,
breezy whoop of yield beneath the groundswell pluck,
amid a sullen grey November hospice

Premium MemberWinter Wonders

Snowflakes taking rebirths; transforming into flimsy shapes,
Melting then, commemorating momentary landscapes...

Flying high; skating, skiing, tough throw of stony snowballs;
One never gets hurt, yet, as though bathing in feather-falls...

Inner warmth and outer chill; frozen nights and melting days,
Costume changing nature's tentative transfiguring ways...

Surprise-filled advent of friends, like whimsical rain-drizzles,
Snow bunting, geese, waxwing, grosbeak and owls play in mizzles...

Midst shorter days and longer nights, indoor games go endless,
Though trees and plants stop growing, vegetables fill countless...

Flocks of migratory birds flying like floral designs,
Snow foxes and hares fashion-parading in rare sun-shines...

Each scene of winter is, indeed, like heavenly wonder,
Missing these might be the most monstrous of human blunder...!

Premium MemberWhich Bird Shall I Be

Which flying bird shall I choose to be?
Would Bird of Paradise suit me?
Owl, falcon or hawk might be fun.
Bohemian waxwing is on the run.
Trumpeter Hornbill or Military Macaw?
King vulture or Jackdaw?
Flamingo with her peachy color?
I can’t decide. I’ll ask my mother.

I am cool water,
You are a lily, upon ...
I move around and about -
 Sustain you, cradle you.
   Drink of me ...
       And bloom!

             You are blossom, soft,
                To my supple branching ...
                 You are fragrance and beauty,
                Giggling in the breeze.
              Hold tight to me ...
          And abound!

    I am a mistral, aloft,
 You, the waxwing dancing -
Unseen and unknowable, yet ...
 I am care and constant.
Press your wings upon me ...
        And soar!
