One look. You smile, you nod, you fall for him
Eyes enchanting, breathing dead bark of tree
Showy singer, poor nest, pretentious whim
Yet, expert in stumping, purrs when with glee
Takes up parenting with love, face never once grim
So uxorious, love-rich. Why ours not so be?

thoughts lick at my consciousness
distracting me from the warm embrace
of the colour pallet unfolding
I stare with myopic eyes at the kaleidoscope
endeavouring to discern the demarcation
of the edge of each shade
naming them as though they are listed on a colour chart
displayed at the local hardware store
but as soon as I have one splash of tint pinned down
it fades to be replaced by a more pleasing explosion of colour
a child’s toy impatiently twirled
a rainbow snipped into a multitude of shapes
in never to be repeated patterns
like an uxorious husband
it enfolds the evening sky in its loving embrace
its fleece soft fingers exploring
lulled into a unison of consent
with a barely perceptible rush of contentment
a slight sibilant sigh issues
memorialising daylight
clinging to the fringes of observation
the scene depicts its titular character
of moral decay
the riparian area jealously guards its supremacy
as hydrophilic plants are robbed of their splendour
in a final display of defiance
alluvial fans buffet against the offing
recombobulating
the natural order of Chaos:
The Great Deep of ancient mythology

A genuine word bouquet~ the gift I give you today
Embroidered in chapters of benevolent language
Bound in book of life, memories fondly resonate,
Ornate in blossoms of passion heartbeats convey,
This gift I give you today, a genuine word bouquet,
Serenading our union says: I will love you always;
As candles of your affection within my heart glow
Worshipping life’s covenants we wrote long ago
Affirming those bonds still remain true and strong
Where bells of compassion in rhythms of love toll,
Wrapped in this uxorious gift are promises forever
Beaming glint of contentment in blessings eternal
Conferring everlasting upon goodness of evermore
Invoking feelings grandeur from halo of my soul
Strumming eloquence in oratory of requited love
Enamored in its presence, cajoling at its behest,
This gift I give you today, a genuine word bouquet,
Serenading our union says: I will love you always.

Arcadian night was effulgent
With the shiny stars when the
Uxorious gentlemen brought to his wife
A munificent blue topaz ring in a judicious
Dinner after the heuristic time

Uxorious
Devotion to wife
Dotingly
Submissive
Sounds like a serious offence

I loved her right from the start
Willingly gave her all my heart
And when she walked down the aisle
I could do nothing at all but smile
When we moved into our flat
I thought to myself, that was that
Once we had our home together
We would just grow old together
Then I saw the pregnancy tester
When she had reached the first Trimester
And then came another level of joy
We would have a little girl of boy
Now I may have tended to fuss
My devotion may have been uxorious
But she was all important in my life
So I fussed around my primiparous wife
And when the great day finally came
We still hadn’t even settled on a name
But our daughter blessed our union
And I had two loves to dote upon

Uxorious
You have got to be
joking
I
one to dote
Excessively fond
of her
Submissive to her
Ok
I admit
that’s my love
