ISHQ E VAFA

ISHQ-E-VAFA

ISHQ-E-VAFA KE BADLE, HUMKO KYA MILA?
ISHQ-E-ZAFA KE BADLE, TUMKO KYA MILA?
HUM NAHIN TERE SAR-E-TAJ KE GHAFIL,
TERI RUSDO-AGAHI MEIN HUMKO SALIKA MILA.

ISHQ-E-RUSWA KE BADLE, HUMEIN ZAKHM MILA,
ISHQ-E-FANA KE BADLE, TUMHEIN BAKA MILA.
HUM NAHIN HAIN TERE SHOKH-E-ISHQ KE BANDE,
TERE RAH-E-SHOKH MEIN HUMEIN PATTHAR MILA.

SHARM-O-HAYA KE BADLE, HUMEIN ZILLAT MILA,
SHOKH-E-BEZAR KE BADLE, TUMHEIN ETIMAAD MILA.
HUM NAHIN TERE UMEED-E-FAZA KE KHILONE,
TERE FIRAAQ-E-ISHQ MEIN HUMEIN RAFTAAB MILA.

DIL-E-RUBABIYAT KE BADLE, HUMEIN RANJ MILA,
DIL-E-SHOR KE BADLE, TUMHEIN SUKOON MILA.
“RAHEMAN” SADA HAI RAFTAAB-E-HAQEEQAT PE,
TERE RAFTAAB-E-BATIL MEIN HUMEIN HAQ MILA.

RAAH-E-GULSHAN KE BADLE, HUMEIN ZEHAR MILA,
ZAKHM-O-ZAFA KE BADLE, TUMHEIN HAYA MILA.
RAHEMAN AB NAHIN RAHA MUHAJIR BANKAR,
TERE ISHQ-E-FIRAAQ MEIN HUMEIN AAINA MILA.

Guzar ta Nahi Ye Shaam-e-Gham

Guzar ta nahi ye shaam-e-gham
Zindagi ke dukhon ka hai peham sitam

Qadam qadam par thakan ka pehra
Himaton ke chiragh bhi ho gaye madhham

Musaafir hoon raahon ka jin ko khabar
Manzilon ka saraab hai, dil ka maatam

Khawab jo bune the, reza reza huye
Haath khaali rahe, na raha koi dum

Sawaal ye hai, aye falak-e-jafa
Kitna aur sehna hai, bata ye sanam

Guzar jaye ye shaam-e-gham kisi tarah
Warna raah mein bikhar jayein hum

Poetry In An Urdu Nutshell

Garage
stacked high
scribbled stenos of
an automatic act
of little understanding or thought-------------
{tuhituhi}

visceral finality
zero return
zero reward
and then there's
a learning disability hindering the reading-------------
{panui}

writing
is taking a dump,
except after wiping, I tend to take a peek
this creative act ill affords a 2nd glance
a good day and bet the writing stinks... boring
jail or hospital equals readers galore
"TELL ME MORE!"
could correlate with occupancy rates
what a sorry excuse of a poet I am
damn if that ain't sayin' much.-----------

~editor's note: Poetry Soup would not let the beautiful Urdu script be seen, so I substituted Maori~ :(

Life

Life is a bag of jilly beans
Never in a separate bowl
Fruity, exquisite, spooned by Ian.

PiCk
and
MiX

Crouching, the tiger
amalgamated the prism of daL.

Floating, the petal
never arrived.

Dreaming, the tangerine peeled to reveal
a bun.

The fiddler: Dum digga dum.

Diggy diggy diggy dum.
And when the bag 'a' beans is empty,
