Lazy streams without a murmur
Flow silently stepping over rocks and pebbles
Carrying with them fish that merrily glide
Along muddy, shallow carved credentials
Of forest land.
Running waters meet a flourishing river
Where bigger fish enjoy the rush of waters
In wait for its smaller breed that happily saunter
Hoping for a wider space and living quarters
Amidst the reefs.
Rivers that carry ships from their dock
Into the seas and oceans wide and deep
Find the monstrous shark and preying fish
Feeding on weaker fins that amidst rushes sleep
Unsuspectingly!

i am going to sit down here
try this cheesecake ice cream cake
with a dollop of cool whip
listen to the waves crash as i
listen to some oldies from the 50s
and early 60s
i am going to let the rhythmic
crashing of the waves take me
away and nod my head to black
is black by los bravos followed by
jenny take a ride by ole mitch and
those detroit wheels traced by that
song i like called come softly to me
now what is the name of the group
does that little piece of wonderfulness
though i am by myself, my mind is
free and my stress level is zero
i will drink my vanilla oatmilk with
pride and pray for another sunny day
tomorrow
life does not practice perfection,
so i rush in the house when a sudden
starts to fall rather expressively
however, it is all groovy and gravy
after donovan makes me smile again
with that mountain song with the
unsuspectingly funky groove

It’s unnerving how so easily
And nonchalantly I deviate
Spin off in odd directions
Off on a tangent lose my path
Without roots and effortless
adrift I sway in the first passing wind
And let myself be carried away
By any summer’s night breeze
Captivated in some stargazing moment
Charmed by the beauty of magical illusion
While I naively wander from my inner kingdom
Unsuspectingly breaking free from freedom itself
It’s most disturbing when I’ve strayed
Because for the longest time the path home
Really seems like it may be lost forever
Before I know it I question if I've lost myself

My wedding day is special because
I stalked the prey
baited the trap
lured her unsuspectingly
out of the thicket
into the openness of love.
Circled stealthily her resistance
creeping ever closer,
listening to the thunder
of her beating heart,
feasting on the scent
of her unknowingness.
Slowly – ever quietly –
romancing the moment,
etching into memory
every blade of grass,
change of wind,
hint of distrust.
She gazed at me,
sun glinting off the towers
of a future’s distance,
awaiting fates moment.
I sprang forward
terrified at her acceptance
of my pursuit.
I had set the trap
for her
and walked right into it.

I'm a wad of gum,
Waiting patiently
You're my lowly victim,
So unsuspectingly!
All gooey on a sidewalk,
Diggin' your classy shoes
A sticky treat is lurking,
And you don't have a clue!
I can see your sole,
I even know your size
SQUISH! I finally got you,
My, what a sweet surprise!
I'm laughing as you curse,
Then scurry to the grass
Strings of sticky chaos,
Is now a pesky mass!
Scrape your gummy shoe,
Along that rugged curb
Have I gotten to you?
Your face looks quite disturbed!
Remove that soily heel,
Submit to your defeat
You look like Captain Ahab,
While limping down the street!

The heart of the poet bleeds words of the conscious
Strung like beads into a design that is precious
A collaboration of the senses and the mind
To the poet heart. the two are entwined
When the mind begins to see, touch or hear
A feeling may provoke a heartfelt tear
The poet heart may strike a unsettling chord
With the thrust of word-filled sword
Into the core of the one who may read
And begins to sprout a poignant seed
In a heart that that was living blind
Or unsuspectingly to remind
Of the memory of a time long past
The reason why the poet heart’s words are cast
