The Path Home

It’s unnerving how so easily And nonchalantly I deviate Spin off in odd directions Off on a tangent lose my path Without roots and effortless adrift I sway in the first passing wind And let myself be carried away By any summer’s night breeze Captivated in some stargazing moment Charmed by the beauty of magical illusion While I naively wander from my inner kingdom Unsuspectingly breaking free from freedom itself It’s most disturbing when I’ve strayed Because for the longest time the path home Really seems like it may be lost forever Before I know it I question if I've lost myself AP: Honorable Mention 2020 Submitted on January 7, 2018
