There are:
No unconquerable fears
No insurmountable hurdles
No undesirable challenges
No unessential efforts, and
No unwelcomed risks
For
The one who loves!

clean carpets fresh scented
unembarrassed for guests
sticky reside unglued
cracker crunches undone
hallway empty of echos
painted fingers faded fast
toy chest passed on
clatter and laughter gone
mother's tasks snatched
unessential, unemployed
home vacated, heart void

Those of us, a certain age
Or vintage you may say
Can easily remember
A bright and youthful day
The world was still so new
And time was unessential
So many things to do
And things were reverential
But time tick tocks, as it does
Relentless in its’ due
Today is short, tomorrows - scarce
Our lives are in review
I contemplate the eras
That house, that car and such
Yet it’s always the people
Whose memories do touch
Those I’ve lost along the way
Those still close to me
In bittersweet reflection
Through vintage eyes, I see

Chaotic disarray no doubt,
Lost things never found,
Understanding things must change,
Time is wasted searching 'round.
Take control and organize,
Everything must have its place.
Remove the unessential junk,
Freeing up much needed space.
Regroup, remove, refine, refresh,
Eventually you'll have success,
Evicting all your cluttered mess.

She came to me.
Moving inside the winds of change and I saw her.
Opening my eyes wider than wide,
a newness washes over me
as though the previous years just melted away,
into something more, something real.
Stumbling, the floor opens beneath me and,
I'm falling
faster
further
unaware of my directions, I fly to her.
Fear only exist in her absense therefore,
I must clothe myself in robes of her spirit.
Her lips full, fill my daydreams,
Her eyes consume my nights.
The chess game of 10 years prior seem like an unessential waste of time
Yet, it marks our story,
traces our land,
flavors our history
Without it, she would be another's,
and I,
would be caught in the wind of something else.
Something loud and noisy,
empty of spirit,
closed to her and everyone else,
flying in circles,
lost in living
without love,
without passion,
without life.

Matching the essence of my mind
Stripping down to its essential purpose of simplicity
Neutralising an acute self-consciousness swinging in frontal opposition
Letting spontaneity counter any interfering deliberation
Minimising the expenditure of emotions and desires
Preserving myself by following the natural bends of things
Strucking water with all my might yet its not wounded
Grasping a handful of it but this proved impossible
Meaning so hidden and mystic revealed itself to me
"that which offers no resistance cannot be overcome"
Passing were my thoughts like reflection of birds flying over water
Drifting freely my mind crossed the ocean of original ignorance
Building a statue not by adding but by hacking away the unessential

You can watch a melting skyline in a blinding flash of light
And your retina and memory remember it was bright
But the aftermath of colors darkening to purple haze
Is an ever changing picture of the measure of your days
Capturing the moment to imprison it in time
Is a trap that trips the torment of a memory so fine
That words are unessential and the moment is divine
So go and paint your pictures and write ten thousand words
I’m off to see a sunset through the eyes of myriad birds
And later in our lifetime as we count the days of bliss
You can envy us our memories of sunsets you have missed
Of words we left unspoken and looks exchanged as thought
Of promises unbroken and a sharing that we caught
There are times gone unremembered and time for even more
But in the end of twilight there is no-one keeping score
For the clarity of vision in the twilight of the day
Brings a truer hue of color to the memories that stay
