Better Which Way

At the opening of the plantation gate,
in the letting out of the slaves
Freedom came with an empty purse,
as well with a curse goodbye
Labor weary lost strangers
straggling along
the lone, dusty auction road
Back and forth a heated argument goes,
moving onward ...
life is better which way
Chains of dependency drags some back,
fetters of anger thrust others forward
To and fro ... back and forth
is the black eye in the pyramid
American experience tug of war
Ebony disunity is zygotic yoked at freedom’s dawn,
dysfunction is the birthright
of a byword nation
An ill-conceived, ignorant legacy
is the premature incubation
of an uncharitable emancipation
Movement of the branded herd,
(their b and b skin is iron womb stamped in)
aimless and without purpose,
settles on self-predation —
a cancerous gift of conditioned oppression
Present day wanderers in an urban wilderness,
dressed in their funeral sanctified Sunday best
Their traditional day of restless sabbatical rest suggest:
which way ain’t been no better either way

Unending Marathon

Like a large, black,
stag beetle, you give a sermon
on living. You don’t believe
in death.

Ready to jump from the
cliff, how did you reach there ?
Slipping through the
cracks of a marathon !

Amid fear and anxiety
hitting the raw line of finish
with tranced frenzy.

After glass and long kisses,
did you eat the prickly pears ?
On the way to salvation, you
were giving very?
uncharitable commentary
at the terminus.

Splendid Wind

During the tender moments of the night, I laid in bed with the covers over my head and listened to the wind lash the corners of my house.
The soothing breeze seeped beneath my window sill.
I stretched my wrinkled ebony body beneath the warm covers and sighed with wishful thoughts.
I wished that I could be whipped away by the uncharitable wind, and tossed against this old house of mines until my flesh and bones fall to the ground and return to dust.
My spirit would delight in the freedom to dance and whirl in its embrace. To be whipped into the sky across the elevated plains, to ride the swell waves of the ocean, to be tickled by the long reach of the tall pines, to soar over snow capped mountains, and fields of wheat, corn, and sunflowers.
The early morning light peeped through my window and reminded me of the fears and misery that consumed me on previous days.
I reached for a glass of water to force down a dozen pills that I held tight in my palm during the night.
I embedded my body with the blanket against the threatening light of the day, and once again I romanced the splendid wind.

Acrostic: Jack Frost

Jack Frost, a naughty hellion's arrival is often afeared.
Acrimoniously he brings his uncharitable winter baggage of
Chilblains, clattering teeth, frost bites, snow blindness,
Knocking down the strongest in sleety ice and frozen snow.

Fathomless is his mischief with kids in winter, and
Roars in laughter at their overreactive plight in ice skating.
Outraged at being tied down by rules, Jack frees himself to
Sculpt snowmen smoking smokeless pipes which
Tempts children to snowball attacks in his blissful wintry eden.

Chemistry Anytime

In the city of avatars
uncharitable names were cropping up
for wet and wild awards
scripted on lips of unreliable nights.

I wanted to quit archives
of headless soldiers and standing back
wanted to watch a river
of corpses flowing to morgue.

Another blast has killed a dozen
bystanders, who were shopping
for a white chador of peace
from blood-streaked owners.

Become a homosexual to catch up
the wave. Don’t tell, don’t give up.
The birthing of blue moon amidst white stars
will take place shortly

Scandals are delicious to us
Celebrities are fair fodder
How thrilling to hear the details of the divorce
Anothers misfortune sadly gives us a certain joy
Devilish felings of smuggness
Eventually we all feel it
No sense denying it
From the scandal sheets to your smile
Reading the headlines at the checkout
Enjoying the gossip
Uncharitable phsycological state
Drama draws un in like flies to honey
Envy is at the root
