Just Part Of The Magic Of Being Alive

Have I done enough good
to offset the bad
have I delivered enough performances
that were deemed acceptable
to place in the chorus-line
my performances that were not
or
are my disappointing performances
out there centre-stage
whilst those that were pleasing
perform a bit part
a supporting role
unnoticed and unremembered
part of the scenery
a piece of the backdrop
against which my disappointments
powerfully present
well-remembered
indelibly definitive
give a command performance
have I become type-cast
rendered immutable
do I need to re-think my character
review my lines
change my costume
re-invent myself
or
do I become less of the harsh critic
the unflinching detractor
and give myself a break
go a little easy
allow what is me
to just be
am I faced with a conundrum
or
is the whole shebang
not a mystery
something be solved
but purely
just part of the magic of being alive.

in the dust
       of
           butterfly wings

short stories of
      immortalised era,
a
              type cast 'pigeion holed'.

a history
         as well as an
                entertainment,written
 to realise
               the wherewithal
           to float longer indulgences thus
    they become
 a truer appraisal of giftings
     and motifs of manners
 described in the prose

He bound thru hoarfrost, highland fells
With naught but knees to ring the bells
Such haunting peals from little blooms
That daubed his hell with dreamy doom

He wrapped his dreams around their throats
Sweet things that bled with beats and notes
And squeezed with all the strength he knew
While each bright face turned ghastly blue

The morn breaks, new, for each grieved soul
Though doubts and deeds can take their toll
He suffered, wrought from pride's cold dawn
Those highlands bled from shame, now gone

He searched for what he'd thus once found
That careless heart ... now dead and bound.

* This is the Rhyme that my poem "Type, Cast" was built around ... I never did a mixed-form this way before, (writing the Free Verse sections and inserting Rhyme as I went), but compressing these sections after the fact helps me to see where the core ideas originated. Kind of a fun exercize, overall! *

Spider Mite

Lady Spider weaving her web again;
Powerful stories surfing on the net.
Hostess - protecting anchors around
Trail Blazer, accosting melodic sound.

Wonder now, what traps she spins.
Boomerang, those frailed legs wantonly pin.
Hideous grips, Neo Geometric moves,
Tempting shots, another day, type cast hooves.

True DNA, we ought to meet,
Face to face on grass luscious green;
Fencing brainstorm, Vedic games:
Who lost and who reigns supreme.

Mark words; the destiny song sings,
Limpid Plangent the oasis rings:
Grasshoppers play their fiddle well.
She spider fries her tale: and it sells.
