Jump, climb, chase, and growl
A feline menace is on the prowl
Giant cats that sleep in trees
Unleashed, they just want to be free
A coat of many tricolored dots
Roaming the forest where it gets hot

A leaf fallen on the sidewalk
Just blown from an autumn breeze
Tricolored and beautiful with it colors so fancy
I wondered where it blew from
I wonder where it will end up?
All leaves are born from trees and are tossed around by the wind of the Creator
Blow wind, blow! Blow those adorning leaves!
Trees wave and bend sending them on their way
Til the first drops of snow
Ushering the time of the leaves be passed
And once the spring rains return
A flashback from the past
A single breath from the throne of heaven

Seemingly, sudden,
Restful sleep all but over.
Wild tricolored Irises, vivid white, sun centered, Shasta Daisies,
And Cosmos of azures, fuchsias and buttery cups;
Babies breathing, eager to begin once again,
In order to forsake the bronze, soft textured crustiness
Of the newly milled mulching caps, as they race for
The viewer and the gazer's glorious prize.
Even with a long and empty storehouse,
The beautiful bachelors and bachelorettes
All remember how to drink
From natures vase,
And where to turn their faces
For one fleeting and lasting
Ray of purpose.

Cindy the tricolored cat 'pon my soft lap sat
Just a gentle touch turns her purr on and sharp claws dig fast
A ferocious distant barking heard as it comes near
Cindy the tricolored cat sharp claws dig in scaring fear
Cindy cools her furry body by lying down
'Pon damp leaves cool from the moist earth ears perked listens for sounds
Constant, careful, considering every small move
The hunter feels hunted but always ready to improve

Like love ones come to view a parting ship
Before the anchor lifts
And its iron lips prow the salty waves
We journeyed from our busy day and penny pay
And the indifferent utterances to our cause
We came tattlering and joking and tired
Of the conditions simulating the bitter colonial
We wiped the bread crumbs from our mouth
Stood erect with eyes upon a pole
And watch the tricolored form slithered down
Head drooping in the gusty night
And all the while Dura drums rolling softly
Could not budge my steel convictions with fire
I felt alone in the long uproar of crowd
For I think I saw it winked an opulent eye
Before the pole flagless stood silent in naked night.

A tricolored Rat Terrier
Is me, set apart, unique
Sporty, distinctive, serious
A breed that is antique
Bred to have high intelligence
Strong sense of smell, hunter
That sniffs out rats, chipmonks, squirrels
My owner's assister
I stand at a tree and show him
Where a squirrel has gone
Or stand at wall showing owner
Rat that he needs work on
Remembering Rocky
Who died a little over a year ago
