Aliens

Proof positive there's intelligent life in the galaxy
light years away in outer space
they know better than to contact us
and we call ourselves the human race.
I'm turned off by cupidity
and over the torpidity
I've had it to here with stupidity.
Every two hundred years or so
they do a fly-by analysing
investigating what lies down here below
without stopping it's not surprising.
Can't understand man's mentality
I'm done with the insanity
I've turned my back on humanity.
Grasping at straws in the back of a stack
we've lost the plot there's no needle to be found
in the wrong place at the wrong time flying 'round the moon
when the answer is here on the ground.
Can't unring the bell the world has gone to hell
there's no turning back
I'm waiting for the aliens to pick me up take me away
shooting for the stars one of these crazy days.

Premium Member The Joy of Running

    Searing, the sun
      no shade on this run

    perilous, the wind
      eyes let sand in

    draining, the humidity
      tempting torpidity…

    steep hill appears ~
      tears, no more gears

Finlay Crisps

I have lived various journeys, torpidity with ideas.
During the summer I walked 6 miles and 12 miles back. Intervals for blow jobs, as well as hiding within her cupboard, until her parents were asleep to .

Her parents always disliked me, they agreed she could do better.
I thought it was true love but she effortlessly forgot.

When finally meeting six months later. Holding hands with a new friend, who had friends that introduced her at university parties.
A family meal out, they all said “hello”.

I left immediately to be alone, regretting being with a ****.
Then outside in the rain we argued about my feelings, There was nothing to say, I had none.
We went home together. Her back towards me, being cold.
My thoughts when back to you Kate. In the garage, having sex on a fridge.
We could not afford condoms but used a crisp packet instead.

Premium Member Sluggishness

I broke
my proper thumb
within venial borders
a shear from a bygone era

on your
tip of the iceberg
you spread a ruffle in my
bleeding shadows

we steer
the flow
on with the ebb and tideway
cutter with sawtoothed teeth

the scorn
of buoyant tethering
In a state of torpidity

A BRIAN STRAND 1098 Poetry Contest
Sponsored by: Brian Strand

THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE without grammatical symbols the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and respond thus making the form a two way interplay and often a unique interpretation by the enigma so derived. ( Poem inspired by Poet Brian Strand Form)

TOXIC STATE Double Acrostic

             Troubling terribly
             Opting to overcome.
X-axis and Y-axis of mind distorted,
             Indicating
             Chaos or crazy connivance.

             Stoically shattered sick
             Totally turbulent.
             Arid abusive
             Tottering torpidity
             Enraged erratic.

Toxic State Contest by FJ Thomas

Impending Sense of Nap

Brain is crackling, crisp, ivory bone dry
Gremlin stuffing cotton behind my eyes

Head begins to swell with torpidity
Vivid mind fading to transparency

Internal membranes breaking down
Thoughts run a deep molasses brown

'Tween thought and motion, expanding rift
Act of sheer will, the body to lift

Limbs grow wooden, ready to fall
Seek out the blessed horizontal

Cover exhaustion with soft frayed quilt
Self-indulgent moment’s guilt

Serotonin sleep dump almost disappointing
Blessed moment of irresponsibility ending

Leaden lids descend on eyes
Fading into a sky blue paradise
