January's cold caress gives way
To February's brief embrace.
The blustery winds of March hold sway
'til blushing April shows her dewy face,
Then coquettishly she'll skip away
And leave us mid the darling buds
And wrapped up in the lusty arms of May.
Joyful June comes bouncing in
With matronly July up close behind her.
The golden days of August reign
Then pale beneath September's scholarly reminder
That sly October's opalescent bliss
Will leave us eager for November's frosty kiss
'til gay December dances through
All tinselly and merry.
And even though we know she cared,
She'll leave us thrilled but unprepared
To face and try to gracefully embrace
Another January.
Twas New Year’s Eve down in the Dingle
Elves and goblins began to mingle
With the gnomes and sprites
In tinselly tights
Each one claiming that they are single
Gnome-made punch from wild mushroom and berry
Made the goblins unusually merry
Then the elves and sprites
Got as high as kites
And on top of each tree was a fairy
New day dawns down in Dingley Dell
End of old era told by a knell
Head gnome issues a call
“Health and happiness: all”
“But for God’s sake stop ringing that bell!”
Hearsay and Heresy shared Chocolate Kisses
Succulent sweetness for raising desire
Some say the fillings are hotter than fire
The wrappings of tinselly colors do tell
There’s nuts and there’s raisins and maybe some mints
And a few full of peppercorn poppers as well
Dreaming and Scheming were watching in wait
Hoping to share in the promising tasting
But Envy and Greed were playing with Fate
And Heresy 's chocolate fingers
