Still the night in silence calm
Caress the ocean void at rest
Take notes to be on time
(as there is precious little left)
Build monuments to the invisibility of spirits
Rise with the morning dawning in a song
Pretend to be the wind’s last breath at rest
Lay down tomorrow as tomorrows never know
Remove mountains in your road
Remove trees along the timber line
Frolic in the meadows before they close
Take the flowers but not the roses
Pray to God to wake you up before it’s over
Steal the bread but not the soul of heaven
Caress the ocean void at rest
Last until your last breath
Birds chortle below the simple timber line
Warm winds can not protect them now
California is no place to be in the middle of a quake
Redwoods and sequoias sway, begin to understand
Collapse in on themselves on shaky grounds
Pacific waters hold a deep blue secret
A charm colder than the Atlantic winter storm
Still the waves rise to the size of mountains
Tsunamis know no boundaries once begun
Trees crack. Ships break with the day wide open
The sun becomes too heavy for the rising sky
Landslides on mud flows fill in the empty spaces
Innocent bystanders of an upside down world survive
Are not surprised when California leaves
Decides to make a new start out at sea
