to be original in your thoughts
think outside the box
and jump off that beaten path
if everyone thought the same
then these poems would sound the same
so don't draw a box around yourself
break out, be wild,
fuel your imagination
be the problem solver,
not the problem maker

I’m constantly reminded to think outside the box
So I thought I would apply it, when looking for my socks
It’s a dilemma I face that my socks are often mixed,
I must think outside the box if I’m to get this problem fixed.
Thinking inside the box must be where I’m going wrong,
That was my rationale at least, figuring where my socks belong?
But how exactly does one, think outside the box?
I should ponder this carefully, like a wily old fox.
What exactly is the problem as to why my socks don’t match?
Could it be that when I bought them they were from a different batch?
Could it be that when I wash them, they somehow separate
And trying to match them afterwards, is no good when it’s too late?
But I cannot think outside the box of that I’m now assured
So I’ll have to ask my wife about this problem she’s endured!
‘We need to think outside the box’ is simply all I said,
She replied ‘then throw them in the wash basket, not under the bed!!’

Good cheese ages…….
We …. get old.
Before you do something stupid
check the birth date…
on your drivers license.
Don’t have a drivers license
then you’re too young
or too old………………..
to do something that stupid.
If your phone rings….
Damn you really are old.
When the sales clerk asks
“Do you have any questions?”
you ask…
“What’s the capitol of South Dakota”
you are old…..
and still a smart ass.
Any request that requires
moving from your favorite chair……
elicits a “Why”.
If your version of the “good old days”
includes walking to school, carrying
a lunch, going out to play, heating
water for a bath, galoshes,
or Christmas…………..
GET IN THE BOX…..
