Evermore
While wending my way one sunny day
in no particular direction
on stopping for reflection
I took a look at flowers by the rustic fence
beside a gnarled old tree
and was amused to see
beautiful colours and textures
which it seemed to me could only be
a painting picturesque
packed with pinks and reds yellows too
while beyond there lay
a field of green beneath

Hair of different textures
In threads of midnight, spun with care,
A canvas woven, beyond compare.
Each strand a brushstroke, fine and bold,
Wild hair, just looking so bold.
A crown of coils, a vibrant might,
Afro's style, a dance of light.
In twists and knots, a moment shown,
Resilient roots, beautifully grown.
With sunlight's kiss, a golden sheen,
Or moonlit shadows, a regal scene.
Loads of textures, rich

Burlap and satin, old age and youth,
that’s probably backwards to tell the truth.
Cause something that’s satin, is easily cut.
While hide of pure burlap is tested and tough.
Burlap and satin, old age and youth,
a rigid garment and something that’s smooth.
Shining and snagging with rugged touch
not giving out warmth very much.
Burlap and satin, one up one down,

Textures
A blank page
Pulp paper laid
A blank stage
Not yet paid
Ooze of ink
Words now verge
Lines of think
In sure purge
Streaks of strain
Ink pulse voice
Stern words plain
Splurge of choice
Poise primes pose
In crisp notes
Just a dose
As thought votes
Text now lines
A blunt squeeze
Mad words brine
A salt sneeze
Brisk breeze blows
Taste the gap
A brief show
In blind map

Stop for a while
Wear sunlit smiles
Style a fond wit
With cheery bits
Fit delight well
For laughter tells
Spell your name here
With obvious cheer
Steer a path wise
Pun your grand prize
Size a big heart
Let joy fill art
Start where time ends
Seize that blind bend
Send your love out
Dare breeze fond shout
Bout of pure joy
Lingers with ploys
Toy with the road
As you bear load

Feel the feelings rush
Feel electric brush
Spread of feeling taut
Spread of meaning sought
Swirl of moans that prey
Swirl of grip that sway
Dance of movement speed
Dance of curves that seed
Face the inner shores
Face the outer mores
Lines of verse recite
Lines of rhymes invite
Meaning greets empty
Meaning floods plenty
Textures seeding dreams
Textures changing themes
Touch and feel detours
Touch and feel contours
Waltz upon life's

Words spring cryptic
Yet disruptive
In kinetics
That surge massive
Words play around
To create tense
In thought and sound
That feel makes sense
Words seem to know
How to be found
As taut lines flow
In certain grounds
Words make a stand
In verse stanzas
As if to tend
New agendas
Words stretch and reach
A common state
To lure and leach
A knowing fate

Textures of the Heart
What does
sand and granite
have in common?
They are both
textures of earth
but they
have significant opposites
as well
For sand cannot
crush granite –
but granite can
crush sand
forming layer upon layer
The sand cannot
sift through or
even dissolve when wet
for the granite is
much to hard and solid
It creates tension
between these two
earthly textures
and whenever this
sort of tension rises…
consequences are sure
to follow
