Textures of the Heart

What does
sand and granite
have in common?

They are both
textures of earth
but they
have significant opposites
as well

For sand cannot
crush granite –
but granite can
crush sand
forming layer upon layer

The sand cannot
sift through or
even dissolve when wet
for the granite is
much to hard and solid

It creates tension
between these two
earthly textures
and whenever this
sort of tension rises…
consequences are sure
to follow them every
step of the way

It just goes to show
that sand and granite
may be earthly textures
but they should never be
used for the same
building structure
